Incomparable

Unfortunately, far from Ms. Evans best effort. There are a few decent tracks on here, but don't expect to be singing anything from this selection hours after you've heard it, or you'll be sorely disappointed. Not a whiff of a 'Soon As I Get Home', not a nod toward an 'I Love You'; not even the Missy Elliot-tagged 'I Deserve It' is reminiscent of 'Love Like This', and it's one of the album's few saving graces! You won't be able to stop yourself comparing 'Incomparable', it's just a sad shame you'll find it coming up short.

awesome awesome album, god only knows why, this is not at the very top in soul and the R& B charts.She has always been consistent, with her musical art, she is still the boss! Hands down.

I love Faith, and to be honest there are a couple of filler tracks, 3 of the tracks are amazing:1) I Deserve It-a killer groove featuring Missy Elliott.2) Fragile-a brilliant track which samples, would you believe, The Mamas & Papas.3) Incomparable-which samples D Train.Not sure why this album hasn't been a bigger success, but it seems to be the R&B divas are suffering a downturn. Mariah Carey, not her best but still listenable, and Mary J Blige. The London Sessions is her most consistent album since My LIfe, and also her best, just not a big seller.

First lady was my favourite album. This is a good listen though

あれ，フェイス・エヴァンスって，こんな顔だったっけ・・・・ジャケットを見ると，ちょんと引いてしまうかもしれませんが，内容は今回も充実，フェイス・エヴァンスの4年ぶりの新作です。　メアリー・J・ブライジと同様，Hip-Hopソウルというカテゴリーで売り出された経緯もあり，今でもHip-Hop系アーテイストのイメージを持っている方もおられるかもしれませんが，実際は，メアリー・Jもフェイスも，Hip-HopやR&B，ゴスペルなどのジャンルやカテゴリーの垣根を超えたスケールの大きなシンガー。伸びやかで情感たっぷりの歌声は，「これぞDiva！」です。　そのことを証明するのが，冒頭の「Prelude－Thank You Good Night」。ブルージーでビターなバラードを迫力満点の歌声で歌い上げています。ぶっちゃけて言うと，「ド迫力」の一言に尽きる感じです。続く「Extraordinary」は，それこそHip-Hopソウルが流行った90年代を思わせるソリッドなビートが印象的なアップテンポ。こちらもヴォーカルの存在感が半端ではありません。　タイトル曲「Incomparable」は，モダンで洗練されたサウンドとタイトなビートのアップテンポで80年代ソウルを想起させます。「Forever」は，華やかでメロウなダンス・ナンバー。優しく軽やかに流れるアコースティック・ギターが耳に優しい「Really Wanna Do」や，甘美なメロディーに物憂げでしなやかな歌声が絡みつく官能的なスロー・ジャム「Make Love－Postlude」もイイですね。　このアルバムでは間奏曲が多いんですが，これがまた佳曲ぞろいなんです。メロウで何処となく切ない「Take Your Time」に，しっとりとした哀感が漂う「Ride the Beat」，エモーショナルでロマンティックな「Ever Go Away」と，どれも間奏曲にしておくのはもったいないほどのポテンシャルです。　エンディングは，南の島の楽園を思わせるヘブンリーな「Maybe」。ふわふわとしたサウンドの上を優雅に舞う歌声が圧巻です。　4年ぶりの新作なわけですが，そのブランクも何のその，フェイス・エヴァンスの歌力を再認識した1枚です。

前作の「Something about faith」が収録曲がやたら多くて（サービスがいいとも言えますが）、曲ごとの振り幅も大きくて、個人的には通して聴くのが難しい作品集だったのですが…（特に「The love in me」とか収録する必要あった？とか）今回も収録曲数はほぼ同じながら、随分まとまってて聴き易い印象です。ワンパターンという意味ではなく、統一感があるというか、アルバムが進んでいく自然な流れの中に曲が配置されているような印象を受けます。1曲のみ懐かしのBrian Alexander MorganやJazzmine Sullivanが関わっている以外はおなじみのChukey Thompson、Mike City、ここにLamar 'Mars' Edwards、Ben 'Bloc' Briggsがまとめて何曲かを仕上げて収録しているので、統一感を感じる要因はこの辺なのかもしれません。後者２人のことは知らなかったのですが、2000年代からR&Bのライター・プロデューサーとして活動しているようです。二人とも90年代に影響を受けたようなメロディアスで高品質のR&B作品を提供していて、R&Bというジャンルが衰退した今こういう作品群が聴けることの幸せを感じてしまいます。肝心の主役の歌唱・表現力は今回も申し分なく、曲によっては今までは聴かなかったようなハイトーンにも挑戦していていつも同じではなく、まだまだ進化し続けようという歌い手としての意欲を感じます。年々R&Bらしいアルバムが出て来なくなってきていてR&Bフリークとしては寂しいかぎりですが、こういう作品が出てくると嬉しくなりますね。あとは若手で彼女の後継者になれるような実力のある歌い手、早く出て来て欲しいです。

I always look forward to a Faith album and this one is worth the wait!! You can tell with every album she puts her heart, soul and whatever she is going through in her life in the songs. I love it and have been playing every song from beginning to end since my CD arrived!! :)

I heard a song on the radio recently and it made me want to dance. It was Faith Evans singing. I looked up the cd, purchased it and was extremely happy with my purchase. Treat yourself too some Faith.

Faith Evan is one of my FAVORITE singers. This CD showcases her ability to make a song come to life. Love it.

Outstanding job from the former first lady of Bad Boy Records. Almost every song on the CD was worth listening to. Faith did a splendid job maintaining a fresh soulful sound.
