This is the model you want
This thing is an absolute beast - it weighs a ton! I'd be surprised if the "leather goat" is any tougher.First off, this is the only BI-2049 model which still has a 3" blade. Unlike the 2049n or 2049gb which don't have a knife (yeah, a pen-knife without a knife) this has a blade which isn't really pointed out in the photo's but it is there if you look carefully. Be aware of EDC rules. This is the v2 (or 2024?) model which has the dimpled cover, unlike the original which has the big holes in it like the other clones.I bought the spare parts kit although looking at what's included, I didn't really need to - it's not really advertised but it comes with a scalpel t-shank and two blades. Now I have about 6 of each scalpels, allen keys and saws! The 8 double-ended ball-detent screwdriver bits are worth the price alone - I spent £5 on a smaller Victorinox spare screwdriver bit for my Swiss Army Cyber last year.It is very stiff, I was a bit worried about folding the pliers back together, but you have to give it a good squeeze and then it becomes easier. The scissors are miles better than the Swiss Army knife ones which break after about two cuts and are a bit painful to use, these are thicker and have a much better spring.Everything locks - even the can opener, awl etc. It comes in a nice (foam/rubber?) padded box which I may keep it in.I never give 5 star reviews, but this, especially with the discounts gets one!

Surge killer
I have many BiBury multitools models and this is the best BiBury so far and definitely a surge killer, especially considering the price difference. I have many Inc leatherman, Gerber and Sog and this one in my opinion is by far a better option with more tools, Inc a standard 1/4 Inc bit set which are easily replaceable unlike the big brand. From what I hear the BiBury customer service is good too. They seem to be listening, unlike leatherman. The only criticism I personally have is I'm not a huge fan of the sheaths they supply but at this price who cares, don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with them, they just don't do it for me.Other than that, they can't be beaten even by the big brands and are definitely the best budget multitool by far so well done BiBury, keep improving and keep the price low.

Solid multi tool though not legally carry in public in the UK
First off, elephant in the room as it is not mentioned in the official blurb. While you can use this at home, when camping/fishing, and at work you can not legally carry this in public in the UK (every day carry/EDC). The are two reasons. The first is with the exception of the pliers, all the tools lock open, meaning the blade is a lock knife. Now while I agree there is no reason for a safety mechanism to be banned in the UK (it is so we have to live with that), the second reason is because the knife blade is over 3" in length. Not by much that .Now that is out of the way what we have here is a 19 (?) tool Leatherman clone that is solidly built with the tools all locking securely when open, and with additional blades, drive heads, and spares all included in pockets in the belt case. There are no rattles and when items are open there is no waggle (which you can get on cheap ones). While the blurb talks about other grades of steel, reality is the blade and most the tools are just stainless steel, so they are strong enough, but the blades will need sharpening sooner rather than later. Having said that the scissors and the blade are both very sharp out of the box.The only downsides I have are the four tools hinged together, which can only be accessed when the pliers are open. Problem is while I can open the awl by itself, I can not the other 3 and have to open all four then push three back. Additionally I find the pliers hard to open and close, but suspect this will become easier in time. One thing to note is at full price these are expensive for a clone, however at the time I was able to select them for review they had a 50% off voucher for if I were to have purchased it. Additionally looking at the Bibury Amazon store you can see much of their merchandise is heavily reduced, so the actual purchase price (as opposed to MSRP) is decent. Now just to hope that over time that the construction stays tight, but that will take a lot of use (and thus time) for any issues in that part of the construction to be highlighted.

Good Quality
All ass described. The quality is good - it feels very sturdy. The scissors do lock into place, but need a bit of pushing back and forth for the lock to click into place. The knife is sharp, but not as sharp as a good swiss army knife, and it doesn't have the same satifying snap when the tools are opened fully. For the price it is a good buy.

Good quality steel, very versatile.
Love the swappable accessory option, saw, file, scalpel, with spares held in the pouch pocket. The 1/4” standard bit driver is a big advantage over Leatherman’s proprietary version. There are several bit sets you can find which will all work and can be attached to the pouch with a small carabiner etc.

Leatherman Alternative?
Nearly £100 difference between this and the leatherman.Solid, good weight and nice few extras.
