Well written caper for kids
We read these books in the wrong order, reading the second in the series first, but these are such well written books. My daughter, who is 8, loves anything to do with detectives and solving mysteries, and this has got the added bonus of being set in a world with magic, so it has a great Harry Potter vibe to it too. Lovely to read aloud, and my daughter enjoys reading it herself too. A great series.

A solid third entry...
We really liked the first book and the second was pretty entertaining too. This follows in much the same vein but what is distracting is the writing at times. The author really should have a word with her editor as there are far too many occasions where unnecessary instances of 'she said' or 'he said' follow every single bit of dialogue. It is really clunky to read and interrupts the flow of the story significantly. A shame really as the series has promise but the writing needs to get better.

Amazing and entertaining book.
I bought the trilogy for my friend's daughter and got absolutely hooked. Remember very well another review when someone said: It's a mix of Harry Potter with Agatha Christie. Totally true. Just felt like I was 12 years old again. Extremely entertaining also for adults. Lucy is a great young leading lady and I would love to see her portrayed in movies. Absolutely love the 3 of them. Brilliant writing.

Amazing books!
My children loved reading these books. Author is clearly very talented and keeps the children interested in the super imaginative story. Well done and thank you! Xx

Another Magical Mystery for Lucy
I love this series, it’s such great fun, and this third book is my favourite yet. Lucy is still a servant and still learning magic, but when familiar friends start acting peculiarly, it’s once more up to Lucy to solve the mystery. While also helping to prepare for Lord Grave’s grand ball. The magic and mystery are firmly entwined this time, and with new characters popping up here and there, the story is good at keeping you guessing. There’s plenty of peril, a fair hint of danger and some creepy spells to keep things interesting. There’s also a great new way to clean windows, although sadly I don’t think it’ll catch on.If you already like this series, then you should love this one. If you’re new, but love magic and mysteries, then dive in and enjoy. I can’t wait to read what Lucy and everyone get up to next.(ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.)

Magical mystery for 8+ readers
In our family we love all these three magical mysteries for their cosy gothic setting, hilarious characters (esp Smell the cat) and plucky heroine Lucy Goodly. Great for 8+
