What a great train set. My 3 year old grandson loves it. Track is easy to assemble. Runs on batteries. Best thing is my grandson can control the Thomas train forward and backward and with sounds. Easy 5 star. Highly recommend.

What sold me on this train besides the price was that it runs on Lionel fast track which I use for my more expensive electric trains. I bought this for my grandchildren who love the Polar Express train. However, this Thomas and friends train is so cute and adorable with its interchangeable faces. Its whistle is so cute sounding for their age. It has the same controller that the more expensive trains have. Therefore, I can let my grandchildren run this inexpensive battery only train without worrying them breaking it.

The media could not be loaded. I was researching for a good quality Train set for my 3 years old son. Looking at different products and their reviews, I was convinced this train set would be the best option within my budget. I was quite right; the product is really well-made and perfect size for my son. The track is wide enough to hold the train bodies not to derail them. The remote works perfectly good, no glitch, connect right way. The train goes forward as well as backward with different speed which is controlled by the remote. The material and build quality is very good, worth of price. It requires adult's help to put together the track and sometimes to put the train body on the track. And it requires 6 C-batteries and 3 AAA batteries which don't come with. My son is really happy playing this new toy. This is absolutely a great purchase!

...but mom just can't do 5 stars on this....you really have to apply some pressure to attach the track pieces which is great as the track stays together while playing but equal pressure must be applied to sesperate the track. Thomas is loud, both when driving and when talking/blowing whistles. Really wish it had volume control for my own sanity but my kid loves the noise. The engine is a little heavy with the batteries in place so be careful with smaller kids picking it up. Kid loves driving the train but it derails a lot but I think that was more a result of bad track configuration. We used foam blocks to build tunnels etc she loved it. I however have hidden it away after one day of playing because it gets so loud and she wants it to run for hours nonstop and I can't handle that again just yet but when I bring it back out she'll be ssoooo excited. I also recommend buying extra track, 1 package each of straight and curved to make a decent size in relation to size of actual train. Also best that I can tell there is no auto shut off if kid leaves it running and walks away.

Unfortunately the remote doesn't work out of the box. Amazon won't replace until old one is sent back. This was a birthday present for my son. Nothing says buzz kill like you getting a lemon product that won't be replaced until who knows when. The quality of the train and tracks is fine. We were excited to get it rolling when the remote was unresponsive no matter what we tried. Get another Thomas set if you are hoping to have some surprise fun with a gift for your family.
