Easier to Fine-Tune Dosing
Gallbladder was removed about 15 years ago. Over 10 years time after I slowly declined in health. Didn't know why. Had trouble with indigestion after eating, burping up food hours after meals. I started taking generic digestion pills (that had pancreatin, HCl, enzymes) and they helped. But, I had to take a lot of them. I got on an HCl kick for a while, but nearly ended up with a stomach ulcer. Then one day it dawned on me that bile was the key ingredient. Thing is, it's near impossible to find bile supplements alone in stores (bile is usually combined with other digestives). I tried various bile supplements, and Nutricology's Ox bile seems to work best for me. However, different folks need different amounts of bile supplementation. I tried their 500mg pills, but they were too much bile in one dose for me. I could either take 1 pill a day, and have some meals still cause indigestion (not enough bile), or I could take 2 pills spaced out in the day but end up with the scoots the next day (too much bile). I looked for a lower dose, and thankfully they make these 125mg pills. This lets the end-user custom-dose (1 for 125mg, 2 for 250mg, 3 for 375mg, 4 for 500mg, etc). You have to experiment yourself to find which brand works best for you. Some folks may do ok with a bile stimulating thing like Cholachol (didn't work for me). Others need straight-up bile supplement, but, for me anyways, there seems to be a difference between procine (pig) and ox bile. Ox bile just seems to work best for me. I try to take 2 x 125mg pills per meal if I remember to take it every meal or 3 x 125mg if I just remember to take it morning and night. The key to bile supplementation is to also take fat soluble vitamins at the same time, especially vitamin D. Most folks get enough vit A & E, and the body tends to make vit K if gut flora is in balance (which bile supplementation can help balance if you have sluggish bile production). But, since many of us spend lives working office jobs and not getting much sun, we can get really low in Vit D. Vit D seems to process better with bile supplementation. When I started mixing in an extra dose of Vit D with my multi vitamin at night and taking it all with bile supplement, it was like night and day. I had more energy, felt better, slept better. So, my night time routine is to take a multi-vite with extra vit D and bile to help digest the fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K). It's worked pretty well. I just wish doctors would have told me about this when I had my gallbladder taken out years ago. I saw doctor after doctor due to deteriorating health, but since blood work showed "everything was fine", they dismissed my mentions of weight-gain, fatigue, etc to just "you need to eat healthier and get more exercise". I'm able to function like a normal person now that I'm actually digesting food normally and absorbing the fat soluble vitamins. Medical folks are dropping the ball by not letting gallbladder removal patients know about this after procedures.

Possibly a miracle for my system
I have been taking ox bile 2x125mg capsules generally with each meal for 2 days. If the meal doesn't appear very fatty, I take 1 capsule. I might standardize on 2 per meal eventually.I had my GB removed 9 years ago. My body is considerably different than most people. I'm in the 1% category. For years, at least 7, I've gotten up at night to use the toilet. Sometimes once, sometimes 3 or 4 times a night. For years.Last night I slept through the night, 7 hours! A MIRACLE. And this was after a moderately greasy meal. Grilled lamb chops and gravy. Bread and butter.I hope this is the beginning of many nights of uninterrupted sleep. A real test will be pizza. The cheese. My surgeon who removed the gallbladder said nothing about bile salts but in fairness I didn't ask because I don't trust doctors.Without going into gruesome details I could tell for a few years that I was not absorbing or converting consumed fat. I could tell because the fat came out as highly sticky glue type wax.

A Godsend!
First, a little medical history. About ten years ago, I began to suffer from gall bladder attacks. The HIDA scan showed my gall bladder was functioning at about 10% capacity, so out it came. I did moderately well after recovery, though I suffered from bouts of diarrhea when I ate anything to fatty. I was told that was normal. Fast forward about five years and I began to suffer from digestive difficulties again. This time the issues seemed to be bloating, gas, gerd, nausea and diarrhea. Following an episode of blood diarrhea, I was given a endo- and colonoscopy. They found over a dozen polyps, a couple of which were pre-cancerous. I seemed to be better following their extraction. I was told I dodged a bullet. Fast forward to the last year, and the digestive difficulties returned again. This time much worse than ever before. I couldn't eat anything without suffering from extreme bloating and gas, stomach pains, diarrhea of the "Oh, God, just kill me now" variety, horrific nausea, and now dizziness and rapid heart beat. My BMs were pale yellow and greasy. The GERD was almost unbearable. I finally got online and searched for "problems digesting after gall bladder removal" and found out about ox bile supplementation. I bought these after a little more research, not really expecting too much. Nothing else had helped. But I have been very pleasantly surprised. In fact, fingers crossed, I might even say that I have cured myself! The first time I took two pills with a Subway sub my only food for the day, and was delighted to find that I digested it pretty easily and without very much gas or bloating. The next time I took them with my wife's homemade chili. Although there was some gas-- probably the chili-- and I did spit up acid once from the GERD, the pills helped me digest the chili without too much difficulty. I think I would have been fine if I had taken two pills but my wife has been watching me like a hawk with these pills for some reason and I only took one. Guess she thinks I am going to overdo it. Today, a big greasy burger and potato wedges. I said what the hell and took three. Although burgers really seem to throw my belly for a loop, my stomach chewed it up like a champ with only very mild burping. No gerd. No nausea. No bloating. No diarrhea. Today, for the first time in two weeks, my stools were normal colored and somewhat firm, rather than a greasy, explosive mess. You normally shouldn't expect quick results with any kind of supplement, but the ox bile works directly on aiding your digesting, and the effect should be immediately evident if you are not producing enough bile to digest your meals. I have decided to take one of these for a snack. Two for a larger meal. And three with my problem foods. Fried chicken. Fries. Pizza. Nuts. Hamburger. Although I tend to eat lightly, I do not follow any specific diet plans. After years of stomach woes, I have shrunk my stomach and only eat one or two things a day. I basically developed an eating disorder. I still can only eat very small meals twice a day. But at least those meals are digesting properly. I finally have some relief. My symptoms following all my stomach problems were SEVERE. I mean, there were times I thought about killing myself. But these pills really seem to be the missing puzzle piece that I have been searching for for a while. I wish my doctor had suggested I take an ox bile supplement with my food following my gall bladder removal. He would have spared me ten years of unending suffering and unpleasantness.
