Love it! Well put together
I went through multiple covers for my Field Notes, all of which were identical and had no character. H&D broke that mold. I love the canvas, the feel of it is fabulous. It’s put together nice and solid and will last a long time. If I had two constructive criticisms it would be it definitely needs a pen loop and the sleeve that holds the notebook in needs to be much tighter as it’s always coming loose. There are however some nice brass pen loop attachments on Amazon that take care of both those issues and add additional character with the bronze and leather loop. If you search for it on Amazon you should find them, they come in a 3 pack. But all in all I love this cover it’s well put together and feels great and looks even better. Very unique unlike the fake leather ones on AmAzon. H&D makes quality products.

Fantastic notebook cover at an awesome price!
I had been looking high and low for a notebook cover to prevent my Field Notes from falling apart that was functional and didn't break the bank. Most other products in a similar price range just had questionable construction or features that I just wasn't a big fan of (bungie cords to hold in notebooks, or external pen loops to name a few). I was particularly excited about the waxed canvas material as it is generally thinner than leather and lighter while still being tough as nails. Out of the box, you'll find the cover comes with a very nice cloth bag, a leather tag, and a hand-stamped label. While this makes the product look very nice as a gift, I would personally have been just as happy without the added extras for a slightly reduced price. Thankfully it's not all about good looks, I've found this notebook cover to be very well designed and exceptionally functional. The cover can hold two 3.5" x 5.5" sized notebooks and has an additional slot sized to hold several business or credit cards. While this cover does not have a specifically-designed pen holder, I have found that I'm able to carry a pen in between my two notebooks without having it fall out thanks to the rolled and sewn seams on the top and bottom edges. You can also fit a standard-sized pen in one of the side pockets if you only have a single notebook. At the end of the day, I really can't find anything truly negative to say about this little cover. If you happen to buy on, I know you'll probably end up loving it as much as I do!

Awesome, simple cover
Have had mine for years now and am just now leaving a review. Holds up to the test of time and has been abused regularly. Would buy again!

Just what was needed, well made, and just right for the job.

Better than leather
I have been using the small 3x5 "field notes" books as my auxiliary brain for a long time. I usually carry them in the rear pocket of my jeans/slacks. Without a cover of some type, the booklets will fray and tear before I've completely filled them. A few months ago I purchased the leather cover from Elan Publishing here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DQQDHBJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The other day, I managed to forget it in my pocket and washed it in the laundry. It stood up to the water but was still wet three days later. I decided to purchase this waxed canvas cover in the interim. Things I liked about the leather cover: Looks good on a conference room table. The inside covers go almost all the way back to the seam of the notebook so you don't have a bump to write over in the middle of the page, very good quality for the money. Things I didn't like about the leather cover: my pencil would often fall out. It always felt too thick in my pocket and never really conformed to the shape of my butt. There was no way to secure a pencil other than tucking it in the crease but the slick leather allowed it fall out. It would try to close itself as I was trying to write something down. It slid out of my pocket on more than one occasion. It wouldn't stay open in my shopping cart. So, basically, the slick leather and no pencil holder were it's major downfalls along with the good/bad too thick leather. This canvas cover isn't totally perfect but addresses many of these issues: Things I like about the canvas cover: It conformed to my butt almost immediately. Once molded to my butt I really didn't notice it anymore. The "pencil/card slot" while possibly too low for me, actually does the job okay because the cover is just wide enough to close completely with the pencil in the slot. My pencil doesn't get broken or fall out. It stays open when I want it open. It doesn't leave smears on the back page. It looks good on a conference room table. It fits in the back pocket of my jeans/slacks fine and the texture of the canvas keeps it from riding up and falling out. My "ideal" cover would be the same as this one with a slightly longer pencil holder slot. See the attached pictures for 1,000 more words....

Good Field Notes Cover
This is a great cover for Field Notes! A note on the size is that is does keep the slim profile, and is oversized on the fit so it will protect the notebook inside. When I open the cover to write, the thickness of the cover provides a good writing surface to jot something down real quick. This cover is well built, and no messy threads or scuff marks before use. It is very durable and will last for the years to come.

A Different Cover for Your Pocket Notebook
Began using it this afternoon. I love the waxed canvas. It has an earthy, rustic quality, if that makes sense. It doesn’t look or feel out of place among my (much more expensive) leather pocket notebook covers. The little square leather patch on the front cover has been stitched askew but I find that charming. If you’re thinking about getting this to hold your Field Notes or other similar cahier notebook, be forewarned; It’s going to be roomy. Even double-stacking two books some leaves some slack. Not really an issue because the waxed canvas envelopes it’s contents nicely, but if you’re like me, the excess material bunching up while it’s open and you’re writing can be irksome. I stuck a thicker hardcover 3.5x5.5 pocket notebook in it instead and it fits like a glove. A delightful, rustic, and, thus far, seemingly rugged pocket notebook cover.

This Hide and Drink Canvas Field Notes Cover has a nice slim profile, unlike those crazy horse leather notebook covers that are large and bulky. The waxed canvas is stiff and looks and feels very durable. The inner canvas lining and pocket is not waxed and is thinner, softer and more flexible. This cover fits Field Notes, or similar sized pocket notebooks (3.5x5.5") perfectly. It does not fit A6 notebooks like the Leuchtturm1917 Jottbook. While the cover may look handmade, the stitching is not and some parts are a bit shoddy with overlapping stitches, or being uneven. This doesn't take away from the aged canvas and rustic look.
