This pool vacuum is easy to install and works as advertised. One strong feature is this vacuum does not have the diaphragm that other models have which wears out quickly. I installed in a medium sized in-ground pool.

Let our pool guy go after he raised us to $135 a month so we purchased this unit to help us clean the pool ourselves.. we've had this cleaner for about 4 months now and so far it's doing a great job. It was easy to assemble and install although it takes some trial and error to adjust the hose weights so it will ride level. Keep in mind that you still have to brush the pool once a week to stop algae buildup and vacuum maybe once a month and maintain chemical levels.

Works great. Had the rubber ring come off a two times, but was a super easy quick fix. You have to make sure you pay attention to your vacuum settings and speed. This will crawl walls and really clean well, so make sure you don't overpower it. I had a top fo the line vacuum with the wheels, scrubbers, etc... all the bells and whistles and this by far has done a better job because it gets to many more places. My pool isn't perfectly rectangle, more like an odd looking peanut with many round edges, so this vac really works around everything and gets into those tough spots. Have been using for over 2 years now and literally no issues. They give you plenty of hose, plus extra to use, high quality as well. Very happy, if this one craps out at some point in time I would absolutely buy another. For the price and the job it does, really hard to argue another vac.

does its job quite well

I've only been using this cleaner for a few days but it does a great job and I was thrilled to find this generic version for only $96. It arrived only 3 days after my order, ahead of schedule, was pretty easy to assemble.After spending four times as much on three other pool cleaners that each lasted only a couple of years, if that, I am optimistic about this one... It only has one moving part (vs. dozens in the others) which means less chance of breaking down and its brand name cousin has a good reputation for longevity.Another reviewer claimed you need a 2 HP pump. That is incorrect. The manufacturer calls for a minimum of 3/4 HP which is correct.UPDATE:This cleaner worked pretty well until a few months ago when the winds picked up and leaves blew into the pool. It doesn't take much to stop it in its tracks, one or two leaves will do it, and it becomes incredibly frustrating to have to clear them out several times a day. I don't have time for this so it sits stuck in one place until I have a chance to turn off the suction, pull it out of the pool and remove a leaf. Other cleaners I've used occasionally needed to be cleared of debris, but never at the rate that this one fails. And I use a leaf rake to remove the heaviest build up of debris, to no avail.Another issue is that it follows the same route around the pool leaving large swathes untouched for several days. I've experimented with various levels of suction and haven't found a way to improve its performance.It's true that you get what you pay for, and I will have to pay a lot more for a better cleaner.

The reviews were 4.4 out of 5 so I read further. It usually takes an hour a day to keep the pool clean and recently I was taking 2 hours a day. I wondered why I had the pool. My Polaris did not do a great job and I still had sand on the bottom of the pool. I had read that this Generic Kreepy KraulyPool Cleaner picked up the sand and leaves; it was inexpensive and simple to use. I did not quite believe it but thought I had nothing to lose by buying it. Some of the reviewers advice was helpful and I made a note of it. It came on Saturday morning and I had it in the pool within 15 minutes. At first it did not move so I shut off one skimmer and the bottom drain to see if anything would happen. It started to move slowly and it covered the whole lazy L pool surface. I let it run 2 hours and was pleasantly surprised. There was only one small area about 4 feet by 2 feet that had sand showing. I figured I would try it again in the morning. I noticed that when the device made a clicking noise and the hose seemed to contract and expand, the device moved along the surface of the plaster walls and bottom of the pool and the area was being cleaned. After the second 2 hours on day two, the pool was clean without leaves and most important no more sand. What I especially like about the device is that it has no sharp edges and no wheels to dig into the plaster and require repair work. I figure that I can get away with running the device for 2 hours twice a week and keep the pool clean. I can strongly recommend this device. And if it breaks, it is cheap enough to buy another one. Lastly I bought it via Amazon.com. It came quickly and in good condition.
