It's a little quirky, but it works and is reliable. You have to connect it to your router with a ethernet cable (although I heard that new updates allow you to just connect to WiFi--not sure). It doubles as a chime if you have the Eufy S340 doorbell, which I do. I connects beautifully and delivers fast video from my Eufy floodlight. You can upgrade the storage with a 2.5 hard drive, which I did. It's small device and that's a good thing. App is good and functional. I call it quirky because it does several things at once, and I don't mean that as a pejorative. The chime, the storage, the hub for all of your Eufy cameras. Plus it has some AI features as well that center on identifying familiar faces. They call it a home base because I'm not sure if they have a single name to describe its functionality. I give it 5 stars because local storage is hard to come by in a subscription-based, cloud storage world. In fact, I bought Eufy products for that very reason. I use the cloud, but I'm tired of it. I want hardware. I want storage I can hold. You barely get local storage on your phones or computers anymore. I'm glad to see something where you can toss few TBs in the case and call it a day.

Nice product. I had an old 500GB SATA hard drive and it was very easy to install. When setting up the HomeBase, it asked me to install using Apple HomeKit. Do not install it through the app first—instead, add it to HomeKit directly through the HomeBase settings. It’s much easier that way. If you already have a HomeBase 2 with cameras, don’t worry. In the Eufy app, you can transfer your existing setup to the new HomeBase. After that, you can remove the old HomeBase since it’s no longer needed. Unfortunately, the instructions in the box don’t explain much, so Google will be your friend during the installation.
