The Archetypal Universe

SO good! <3
This is a book that should be staple in your collection. This is a cookbook style book where you can look up different planetary combinations. He breaks down the archetypes by planets to start, then he combines 2 planets together, and then at the back of the book, he does something I've never seen in any other book - he writes interpretations of 3 planets together (including the angles). So it's very thorough. One thing about this book you should know, it's not really designed to give aspect interpretations on a deep psychological level like Aspects in Astrology by Sue Tompkins - but that is why I love this book so much. If you're tracking mundane transits it's very handy because it gives you just the basics to inspire thought without bogging you down with keywords and meanings better suited for a natal chart. It keeps the planet archetypes pure so that you can apply their meanings to anything. It's a great book and you should really pick it up. :)

Amazing reference
Amazing reference book for the novice astrologer. It’s a fun read and an exceptional learning tool. Hell, I’ve been doing astrology for over 20 years and I still reach for this.

A MUST for your astro library!
This book has become one of my go to’s for understanding aspects and the combined energy of planets. Which I find to be a really challenging topic. This book has helped a lot and I highly recommend to any western astrologer.

Digital download version would be INCREDIBLY helpful since this is basically a reference book; having to thumb through and constantly refer back to the table of contents is kinda annoying.

Recycled Text and Aspect Oversight
This book is shorter than it's presented to be.100pages could've been deleted due to all the copy-paste summaries. Sometimes, the exact same sentences occur in the same chapter. Because of the self-recycled text, there's no further insight between the "Planetary Pairs" and "Planetary Triads" that wasn't already said in the "combined with" section. The Triad section is not needed. The Aspects: Where are they? There's setup for mentioning the Aspects and their abbreviations. The predominant use of Aspects is for supporting celebrity zingers. In the entirety of the book, the ONLY time an interpretation discusses Aspects is "Saturn-Midheaven". Because Saturn-Midheaven is the only chapter discussing Aspects, it's an oversight amongst nondescript content. The first 20 pages are solid and interesting. The remainder benefits from editing. I am grateful for the author promising a lot and sharing their findings. If the book was just the Dream sections and mention of deities, I'm satisfied because the pickings are slim. The purpose of this review is because, if there were a 2nd Edition, it can't be just be a second printing without restructuring. I was excited to get this book, yet the content overall doesn't feel like I'm peeping into decades worth of insight. The content shelflife is best for anyone unfamiliar with Astrology yet doesn't intend on making a practice of it.
