If anybody ends up looking for a way to drill square holes, these work. I made a jig that held it where I needed it, then drilled down using this bit. Then took the bit out of the square chisel and just used a hammer to pound the chisel portion into the wood, it made a perfectly square hole. You then have to use a standard chisel to clean it up a bit since it won't make the bottom of the hole square. Hope this helps someone else. I used it to make square holes in steps for cast iron balusters. They look great. This way I didn't have to use those ugly shoes at the bottom. For the price it was worth it. Even if it would be useless after this one project, it was cheaper than the shoes would have been, but the tool is still good and can be used the next time I need a square hole.

These morticing bits may work okay if.... you have a morticing machine or you purchase a special adapter for your drill press. You cannot simply put them in your drill press as is and use them.

This product is of very poor quality Grinder marks still on the sides bits not sharp enough bore thru hardwood Wish I had not made this purchase
