Nicely made, thread is precise and clean. I don't own any external lens and use a 67mm filter with my phone but my case is compatible and so I thought "better to look at it than look for it" and the cost is negligeable anyway! FYI the case is the Neewer leather case for S25 Ultra that comes with a 67mm filter mount and 17mm threaded rings on two main cameras that allows you, via the 17-37mm adapter, to attach external lenses such as Freewell 1.33x anamorphic. Recommended.

It is difficult to use accessories on a smart phone! However, if you use a case, cage or clip, the chance for you to use camera accessories is very high. Most cages for smart phones provide one of the three popular mounting mechanisms: 17mm thread, T-mount (not to be confused with SLR camera mount) or 37mm thread. The T-mount was created by the smart phone lens maker Moment, and is not our focus here. Most point-and-shoot (PS) camera accessories in the beginning of the digital age used 37mm thread. Therefore, if a cage has a 17mm thread, by adding a 17-37mm step-up ring like this one offers an opportunity to use 37mm camera accessories such as filters and lenses. Neewer is not the only company making a 17-37mm step-up ring (or adapter). But, the use of these step-up rings is exactly the same. Of course, you need a cage with a 17mm thread. I personally do not recommend the Neewer PA044 cage, because the provided plates only support the wide angle lens and there is no thread for the tele 5X lens on an iPhone. Here I use Beastgrip cage for iPhone 15 Pro Max as an example. IMO, the best quality of lenses for small diameter PS cameras is the ones made by Nikon for the early Coolpix 950/990/995/4500 digital cameras. These lenses have a 28mm thread, which is not very popular nowadays. To use these high quality lenses, you will need a thin 37-28mm step-down ring as shown in one of the included images. Note that some thick 37-28mm step-down rings can cause vignetting because of their thickness. So, mount this Neewer 17-37mm step-up ring to your cage followed by a thin 37-28mm step-down ring. Then, you are able to use those Nikon high quality 28mm based lenses. Nikon made Fisheye FC-E8, TC-E2 2X, TC-E3ED 3X and TC-E3PF 3X converter lenses. You don't need a wide angle converter because the built-in super wide angle lens can do a better job. If you wish to use the FC-E8 Fisheye converter, the 17-37 and 37-28 combo should be mounted to the 1X lens as shown in the attached images. If you wish to use the 2X or 3X lenses, switch the 17-37 and 37-28 combo to the 5X lens. If you use Nikon TC-E2 2X on the 5X lens, then you have a 10X lens, which is 24*10 =240 240mm telephoto lens. If you use the Nikon TC-E3ED 3X with the 5X lens, you have a 15X lens, which is 24*15 =360 360mm telephoto lens. Both the TC-E2 2X and TC-E3ED 3X will deliver excellent image quality with your iPhone, and both lenses are cheap enough and cheaper than a typical cage. The Nikon TC-E3ED 3X was several hundred dollars in 2000s. Of course, these Nikons are just examples. Canon and Olympus also made good quality converter lenses. They may use 49mm, 52mm or 55mm threads. As a result, you will also need 37-49, 37-52 or 37-55 step-up rings. Always keep in mind that the rings should be thin enough to avoid vignetting. As for filters, 37mm is usually good for the 5X lens but may not be good enough for the 1X lens and definitely insufficient for the super-wide lens. In this case, a larger diameter filter, in particular a CPL, will be needed. Neewer and other filter makers made clip on CPLs or mounting ring for your cage. In summary, this Newer 17-37mm step-up ring is good enough for mounting converter lens but insufficient for CPL. I bought two, one for each of my cages.
