6 time buyer
I have bought at least 6 of these because they do not last. this is a design flaw which I believe is deliberate. the hinge design will always put sideways pressure on the blade when cutting root crops like onions. this pressure will cause the blades to bend as the plunger is depressed. the blades being deformed while under pressure, are contacted by the plunger which brakes the blades. broken blades means you need a new one. if it wasn't a known problem, then why is this 80% heavier... if I can believe this sales pitch. same design same problem. I looked for better design, its not offered. the plunger must be a vertical design. not hinged. the product is great, just built to break.

Impressed
I bought this because I hate chopping onions and the frozen pre cut ones just don't last long enough. I don't really care for the "kitchen gadgets" either because they are always a pain to wash and store. BUT I have to admit that the annoyance of washing and storing this chopper is definitely worth the price. It comes with a brush and a little "claw" thing to help get everything out of the top portion and it works quite well. I haven't used all the blades yet but what I used is sharp and doesn't take much effort. You do have to half or quarter the larger vegetables to make sure they fit on the blade but that's still better than chopping the whole thing. I also like the size of the container. Plenty of room for 2 or 3 onions or all of the salad vegetables. I got carried away chopping vegetables for a salad for 2 and ended up with salad for 4! The lid is nice too making it easy to store the chopped vegetables for later.

Total rubbish - a waste of time and money (rating is probably based on fake reviews..)
I ended up spending more time cleaning the mess this thing created, then I would have using a knife and board.Frankly, it was very hard to get it chop even one quarter of an onion, and I had to use a lot of force which I don't think this flimsy plastic unit can take for long, or that my wife could have applied. I can only imagine how hard it would have been to chop a harder root vegetable - that would be quite impossible probably.I've had slightly better luck with peeled cucumbers, most of them went through if only I fed them in in small bits. The pieces were even, but a few cucumbers got stuck and turned into puree even in small pieces (see images).Trying to chop tomatoes was an utter disaster, it just pureed the vegetable and most of it was left inside the mesh blade. I tried different kinds of tomatoes (hard and more ripe, sliced or whole) but they were all just such disaster. I used the included brush but ended up spending more time trying to clean the thing than I would have spent cutting the damn vegetables with a knife. The tomato puree also got stuck in the plastic lid teeth that go into the blade, and it was super annoying to try to get the small bits and pieces out of there - a gory task that took a couple minutes under the running water even with the brush or a knife.I also managed to cut myself even though I used the brush.

Nice Kitchen Gadget
My daughter-in-law chides me for using this to cut veggies, says I'm lazy. I think I'm smart. The ideal cut should be uniform. Good luck with that without years of practice. Yes, the first time I used it, I cut my finger a bit since I was trying to clear out the veggies on the wrong side of the blade. Do be sure you don't make my mistake. I have come to love this thing. Last night, I made chicken cacciatore with diced onion, 3 stalks of celery and 4 cloves of garlic. If you cut veggies the right size to fit on top of the blades, you will not have any problem at all. You DO, however, have to rather slam it down pretty hard to get a great cut. Doing cuts this way takes seconds, not minutes. If you use it, you will be glad you have it.

Good chopper
This is a great chopper for the price paid. It is sturdy and super sharp. The only reason it doesn't get all 5 stars is that it does not cut cheese well, it mushes it more than actually cutting it and it gets stuck. Other than that it's easy to clean with the cleaning tools and easy to use. Saves my hands and fingers especially when I have a lot of chopping to do.The blades can be a bit difficult to remove to clean or change out and we have cut ourselves doing so, but the more we use it the easier it gets.

Heavy Duty, Large Capacity, Food Chopper
I really like to use this chopper. I have used it for a week.I have been using it to cut up vegetables to make soups and to put away some freezer meals. It makes quick work of onions, zucchini and peppers. Carrots need to be sliced to make sure they cut well, all vegetables have to be cut to fit the cutting area. It makes quick work of them after the preparation work. The large capacity bowl is a great benefit, you can usually cut all your vegetables at once to make soup.Celery fibers get caught in the holder part and have to be combed out of the fingers. You could do a lot of cutting at once and have it ready to use when needed.I am glad I bought this chopper. It has worked out great.

Works like a charm!
I use onions in my cooking frequently and was looking for something to cut them easily and quickly with as little pain to my eyes as possible. I came across this chopper after reading an article about need to have kitchen items and, decided to give it a try. So very glad I did. This chopper is just amazing. I peeled my onion then quartered it, put it in the slicer using the smallest cutting blade and it cut it perfectly! The best part is if you like to prep prior to cooking you can just put the lid on after cutting and when you need it your vegetables are ready to go. Wish I would of found this cutter sooner.

Chops great, depending on what you're chopping.
rI got tired of chopping ham cubes and cheese cubes for my salads by hand, so I bought this chopper. The blades are very sharp. They chop carrots, celery, boiled eggs, and onions very well. However, 1/2 inch ham cubes and muenster cheese get stuck in the blades. You have to scrape a lot to get the debris out of the plastic grid and blades. I wish I had bought the other Zalik chopper that slices because this one doesn't. I would have liked to slice potatoes in a nice uniform manner. I didn't see the Zalik super duper slicer until I already had bought this one. Maybe I'll go ahead and get it, too.

The blades are poor quality
I used the 12mm blade for 10 min and got damaged; not usable anymore. The blades are made of soft, very thin steel; they do not last more than a few min of usage.
