these arent' my son's shorts
They're more like his father's shorts--which is good. I grew up in the 60s, when men wore shorts. Today they (mostly) wear pants that look like they shrunk in the dryer. Even most of my running shorts are so long that they get in the way. These shorts are different--they're short enough (and big enough in the thigh) that they're comfortable to run in, and I don't feel like I'm fighting them. And the pocket in back is great--I wondered why it was in back (in fact, in the middle of the back), rather than in front, or at least on the hip. I was afraid my Prius key would bounce around uncomfortably. Having run in them tonight, I can say the pocket is great; big enough that when I'm on a trip, I'll even be able to put those ridiculous rental car keys in my pocket (you know the ones with the giant cable loop holding a completely superfluous dog tag? yeah those).Anyway, these are great shorts. I only dropped one star on comfort, because the liner seems tight enough that it could chafe at the edges--although to be honest, that didn't happen tonight, and it will probably be looser after it's been through the wash once or twice.

Price, Phone Pocket, & Fit
I’ll preface this by saying I’ve only just received these shorts and have yet to take them for a spin, but I’m very excited to share my thoughts (to be updated later if they tear or I discover some hidden flaw). I run both trail and tarmac and am always hunting for a good deal, especially if it involves a rear pocket large enough for my iPhone 6 in its symmetry Otterbox case. Phone fits well with depth to spare, which is great so it doesn’t feel like it’s glued to your glutes. Fit is right with a nice short inseam and a minor split on the outseam. As far as the construction of the shorts, I like the tough feeling of the fabric and anticipate it will last a very long time. The inner brief isn’t astounding, but it’s quite comfortable and I doubt it’ll give any chafe issues out of the normal realm. They also nailed it on opting for a flat polyester back rather than elastic immediately above the back pocket (see the model photos) - this is very comfortable to avoid that bunched feeling in the small of your back as most of us runners have that dimple back there. I have large quads and a ~29 inch waist and size small is definitely right for me.Cons include how much elastic is in here. It’s not horrific, but enough that I can stretch these out a good 5 inches from my belly button before they hit capacity. I’m not worried about it and is more of a point of improvement for the future. Also, the plastic draw string holder was a very poor idea. Who wants to run over 30 minutes with a piece of plastic being lodged into your lower stomach? Luckily that was a 5 second fix to remove and the tied laces feel great. No way you can beat this for $16 - especially considering there are very few shorts I own that I’d say are nicer and I’ve yet to see a better phone pocket.

RUNS SMALL IN SIZE
X-large is more like a large which makes the inner liner tight. Order a size larger if you want a non restrictive fit. Agree with the other review, the draw string is unnecessary and removing it would lower the price so it's a win win. I've been wearing silkies vs underwear ever since the military. You can't wear these for an extended period of time, the band is too tight and "bites" into your skin as it gathers the material. I cut the draw strings hoping it'd loosen the fit but no go so no return for me . So if you get them and they feel too tight, just return them as there's nothing you can do to change it.

Great shorts for the price.
My husband is a runner and is on the small side. He wears a 30 waist and so sometimes it's hard to find shorts that fit. He purchased these, in size Small, and has worn them several times and really likes them. Enough that he has just had me order another pair. They are the perfect length and super comfortable to run in, even in the heat of a Florida summer. The zip pocket in the back is perfect for his car key. It would also hold his iphone 6 if he was inclined to run with it. .

Great sleepwear too!
For the last 10 years, I have been sleeping in 2 alternating pairs of "Champion" running shorts (with drawstring and liner). Those shorts are starting to wear out, and I was looking for a similar product (since the Champion product was discontinued about 9 years ago). The Large size is just a bit too baggy for proper support, I'm 6'2" and weigh 175 pounds. I'm ordering two more of these in "Medium," which should fit my frame a bit tighter. There is no way I'd go running or hiking in public in these, unless I had a support brief underneath. There is just too much "flopping around."But for my purposes, it looks like I've got my sleeping shorts covered for the next decade!Price is currently $10 apiece on Amazon, which is the same price I paid for those Champion shorts at Ross, 10 years ago. (Thanks, BREXIT)

INSTANT SMILES
Read the reviews (both good and bad) so as to get a "balanced" idea of what these are like. I like short shorts for both lounging and working out. Thought I'd take a shot with these, and I put them on, and instantly smiled said "Yes!". They're not tight...they're not too baggy. The inner brief is very nice...comfortable but secure...not too snug...not loose - stretchy really. Shows lots of leg, but not so much that I look promiscuous, or funny looking - nice masculine athletic cut to them. I'll probably be ordering other colors of these when they get in stock. Thanks Time to Run!

Captain Underpants??
Much larger and dumpiest than expected. Thought these would be small and short running shorts. I looked like I was wearing a diaper underneath. I usually love Time to Run shorts. I have multiple in their 4” model that are 5 Star. Buy those, not these!

Very good quality. I ordered a 2nd pair.
I'm a prolific runner and am very picky with the clothes that I buy. I've put the shorts on and taken them out for a run. The fit is perfect, and the inner lining is good quality.I do have to make note that the hardware you included on the drawstrings was unnecessary. I took it off because it was rubbing against my ski. I put it on my shoe laces to keep them from unraveling. It was a good idea, but just misplaced.Last year I also bought one of your running hoodies and it is my favorite piece of running apparel.

Quality Running Shorts
I bought my first pair of these shorts a couple of weeks ago. Their first outing was an easy paced 18km run. They feel heavier than expected in the hand, but all the weight seems to be in the well constructed waistband, once on, they feel very light. After a couple of test runs, I was happy enough to by another couple of pairs with different colour strips at the back. There is a good size pocket at the back with a quality zipper, big enough for some keys, cash, and a card.I have just returned from an 800m race, wearing the shorts, where I achieved a personal best time. I didn't notice the shorts at all, which means that they did a great job. I will be looking at other items from Time to Run

These short but not too short shorts are my new favourite short shorts
I can honestly say that I don't think I'll buy another brand of running shorts ever again, unless Time To Run go bust or discontinue this particular style. My brother bought me a pair of these shorts quite recently after buying a pair for himself and I've already bought a second pair in a different colour. The shorts are comfortable and fit really well. They're super lightweight and don't get in the way when you're running, but the elasticated inner brief area is supportive and comfy, such that I don't feel the need to wear additional underwear beneath them.An uncomfortable inner has been a major source of irritation with other types of running short I've worn. The rear zip pocket (which almost spans the width of the shorts) is very useful. It's big enough to carry a phone, keys and/or an energy gel or two. They machine wash well and hang dry very quickly.I'm a 75kg male with a 31inch waist and a larger than normal butt area and the medium size fits me perfectly, although my brother is of mainly the same proportions (minus the butt) and he also finds the medium to be comfortable.

Excellent, comfortable shorts
I've just taken up running again after many years and was wary about which shorts to choose. The Time To Run shorts have proved that I made the right decision: light, comfortable, plenty of ventilation and really easy to give a quick wash and dry. The small pocket at the back is useful for your car keys and perhaps a packet of sweets. Great value for money, highly recommended.

Great run shorts
Really happy with these running shorts - I’ve just ordered a second pair in blue. And for the first time I can remember, I haven’t had to remove the uncomfortable liner - these have a very nice design. The back zip pocket is a decent size too.

Brilliant shorts, but be aware they are short
Brilliant shorts - better than anything I've had from Nike, Adidas in the past - really well designed. Just be aware - these are traditional style running shorts. While this style is (in my opinion) the best for serious running, I wouldn't perhaps wear them out and about on holiday or on a hot day like some of my other running shorts. This isn't a criticism though as this was exactly what I wanted, and I think the same brand also sells longer shorts if that's what you're looking for. This will be my first port of call for future running gear.
