This book has some of the cutest cakes ever. The instructions look easy enough and detailed.

I had high hopes for this book.. I am a home cake decorator and am entering the world of figures. I did not find these characters very helpful. I wished it would have had more basic shaped and ideas to go from. The faces were helpful, but I just dont know when I will need a hippo in the bath tub. I should have researched the book better before purchase.

I made the cake on the front cover and got rave reviews. I would highly recommend this one if you do children's cakes. I have used the characters on many different cakes. The instructions are clear, easy to follow and well planned. A must. for fondant character makers.

This was the next step for me after Maisie's marzipan figures book and it is fantastic. The instructions are clear and the cakes are clever, funny and full of personality. You can also use the fondant creatures as a starting point for your own ideas and cake creations. I loved this book.

This was a gift for my 14 yr old niece who by the age of 8 already decided that she wanted to be a pastry chef. This is part of a collection that I started to buy for her. She liked it, but hasn't made anything out of it.

I've been doing cake decorating for about 5 years and love doing character cakes. I like getting ideas from loads of books and then making my own up. This books has loads of helpful tips and you are not just given ideas for the cakes this books gives you useful ideas for buns too. I did the teddybear mum and baby as a topping for a small cake for a friend and she's asked me to do buns using this book for ideas for the christening. The instructions were clear and helpful. I'll certainly be buying more of Maisie's books in the future. Would suggest that you had some experience of cake decorating though to get the finished products like hers but it would be fun trying and that's what cake decorating is all about, giving it a go, making a few mistakes (which are still edible) and enjoying yourself. Also if you have children they would love to have a go as it's just like playing with playdo but you can eat if afterwards.

Although, I have seen examples of Maisie's work in cake magazines, I have only recently started to collect her books and I am so glad that I have. I make lots of children's cakes and can take ideas and characters from this book and adapt them to my own theme. This book is beautifully illustrated with detailed guides of how to make the characters. The cakes are striking and bold and Maisie gives examples of mini cakes using elements of each cake / theme.I would definitely recommend this book for cake decorators of all abilities.

I bought this book as a gift for my daughter, she was delighted with it . The book shows step by step how to achieve the cakes pictured, on its very well presented pages. The cakes appeal to young and old alike , the various members of our family have all chosen their particular favourites. The title states childrens cakes but with very easy adaptations they suit any age.

5 stars for this book, I love it. Maisie Parrish gives such clear instructions you can't fail but be sucessful. I'd recommend this book to anyone into cake decorating from the first timer to the more experienced everyone should find this book useful.
