It does the job for the price.
UPDATE (issues started happening around July 20th 2015 ~3 months in) : Sadly now have to drop a star.. About a week ago this screen went from working well without any problems other than the ones I mentioned in my last post, to started doing phantom movements. Within the last week when we touched the screen it seemed that it would move a number of other areas and then there were movements without even touching the screen. It got so bad the iPad was launching apps on its own and I had to power it down.Needless to say I tried the basics to test before I was going to really take it apart; rebooted, uninstalled newest apps (very difficult with the screen moving everything around while trying to use it) verified no external physical item was causing the motion cleaned the exterior to confirm. Finally took off the screen but didn't have time to take out all the screws and check underneath, so just shut it down and put it aside.Note: in last post I was going to use a Tech Armor glass protector so it didn't get cracked again but we had some setbacks with the glass protector and it didn't get installed so if you were wondering if a glass protector or some other external source was causing this I did a bit of basic testing but had no external sources causing the problems. My son tried a day later to use it and it was so frustrating he ended up cracking the screen again by dropping a heavy item on it, so no chance of returning or replacing through a warranty at this point (not sure there was one since it is a replacement part anyway..) Time to buy another screen. New one is being sold by "Albero(3-5 business days Ship from the USA)". Will update with new results it arrives on Thursday 30th)Previous Comments (May 21 2015)Sold by: winmaxcn At this point it was 4 stars. This is for an iPad Mini, I installed this myself, the glass is good and seems to not have any problems, the condition looks good I didn't see any "defects" when it arrived.>the screwdrivers came with 3 types, the first was a Phillips head, the second a flat head and the third some strange star shape. I had no use for the star shape, I wasn't sure if this kit is designed for other units that use this type of screw or not, but my iPad Mini did not have any star shaped screws.>the plastic tools were basically useless, they came slightly damaged and even the picks were a bit too thick to get under the edge at first. I did use the picks later in the process but I ended up using a small palette knife from my painting set to get under the edge, after heating it up. I could have used that and a credit card to hold the edges, so they weren't as helpful as I had hoped.> the suction cup was small, it did the job, however I think I would have preferred a larger one as I had cracked glass so when pulling up with it some pieces ended up getting more shattered and got everywhere (I highly recommend using glasses during that process as I almost got a piece of glass in my eye..) but anyway, was repairing a damaged unit so this is to be expected. Once the glass was all removed it was much easier. The screen itself seemed like it had no issues and after putting everything back together it worked fine, however I notice something that wasn't a problem with my original screen. I use my tablet for drawing and have a Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus 2 pen that I use to do art on it, I now find with this new screen I can't draw all the way to the edge like before. Not a huge deal, but hopefully it doesn't impact any other apps/games that about 1/8th inch around the very edge is unable to sense anything. O well. At least it isn't cracked all over anymore. The final thing the button in the center sticks up above the glass, just enough to be annoyingly scratchy under my finger it isn't as flush as it used to be. I am putting some Tech Armor over it so hopefully it lifts the surface enough that I won't notice as much.Other than that which is pretty minimal, I think it was a decent product and would recommend it to others as the price is right.

It works, but not for the faint of heart. You must fix all dents in frame perfectly.
This caused a big headache, and I wish I had just paid someone with more experience to fix it. I followed instructions online, but I had major dents in the corners of my iPad Mini, and I did not have the proper tools to get undent. I went ahead anyways, and because of the damage, it took hours and hours just to get the glass off. The fiberglass was all over the place, and I had to re-heat the glue with a hairdryer like 20 different times. The whole process honestly took me like 5-6 hours. Once I tried to put the glass screen back into place and fit within the smaller space (because it was dented), the screen cracked a little bit in one of the corners. It wasn't perfectly center, but you know what, it worked. My wife was laughing at me throughout the whole process, and she was convinced there's no way that thing would turn on again and work properly. I was unable to get the smart cover to work properly however, probably because I didn't put the magnets in the exact spots (I wasn't entirely sure where they were supposed to go). This screen lasted a few days until it was dropped again, and the whole screen cracked (mostly because of the first crack in the corner).I would only suggest this if you don't have dents in your corners, and you have the patience to do this.I ended up paying $100 to someone locally, who did an amazing job. He said it took like 2 hours just to fix the dents in the corners. I was in way over my head, but it was an interesting experience to say the least.

Good replacement, but a bit disappointing
This was my first digitizer replacement of any kind, and I have to say, it was surprisingly easy. It requires a LOT of care, and you've got to take your time. This screen is functional. It works, or course, and it comes with some basic tools, as well as pre-applied adhesive, but it's not the best thing out there. The adhesive that it comes with is good quality. The tools really aren't. I had to use a different phillips screwdriver than the one included, as it was slightly too large. The digitizer itself is actually of decent quality. It's pretty tough (or so it seems), and it is a perfect fit for the iPad mini (mine is the 1st generation). However, the pre-installed home button is a bit loose, not like what you's expect from Apple. The suction cup that came with the tool kit isn't too great either, as it is too weak, despite the amount off heat that is applied. The screen is a good replacement, don't get me wrong. I mean, for $40, theres something to be said for a kit that works as well as this one. I just expected a bit more quality. Just remember to look hp a YouTube video before AND during the process. It can be tricky, and if you don't know what you're doing, it's easy to mess up.

Was so excited and then so disappointed
I bought 2 of these. My son uses an Ipad at school and managed to crack two this year. Rather then buying a third Ipad mini, I thought we would try replacing the glass first. My husband is an engineer and the videos seemed fairly easy. It was pretty easy to do. It is when you are finished that all the problems occur. The last step is to test the digitizer before you removing the backing on the adhesive.Once you do that it, specifically states that it is not returnable. Seemed reasonable to me. With the Ipad still open, we fired up each one. We tested both quickly and they worked. The ipad responded appropriately to our finger swipes and use of home button. When we applied the adhesive and closed the Ipad is when the problems began. We did one Ipad first and had my son try it for a few days and everything seemed good. So, we replaced the glass on the second one. The second one immediately had problems. The home button is defective. It is like it sticks. Siri keeps activating on her own. Apps are going crazy. It is like the Ipad has an uncontrollable tick. The day after I replaced the glass on 2nd one, the 1st one started doing the same thing. That worked for 4 days. Now I am out almost $150 for 2 replacement digitizers and the LCD that I had to replace in one of them. I still have to buy an Ipad.
