Concept of equality told in a beautiful way
What a wonderful story!! N beautiful pictures.. I had heard this story from Ms. Janaki's story telling session. My daughter - almost 3 years now - loved the book. Gender equality and free will told so very beautifully.. a must have- Unlike those gender biased fairy tales.

a story line like no other
This book has won many awards and is worth many more.. a story line like no other, talking of gender equality issues and girl empowerment - so relevant to our country and set in our own cultural milieu... Illustrations in warm colour tones add to the beauty of the narrative.. I have read this book and enjoyed it thoroughly my daughter loves it too... Handling a sensitive topic in a child friendly and a non - preachy manner is no easy task and the author has accomplished it exceedingly well...

A tale of two heroins!
Its a really nice book for an age group of 6-10 years. However if the child is smaller, you can always read out the story. The pictures are really pretty and the child will enjoy watching them. A story about a little girl Sundari and her elephant Lakshmi who want to do something different. Something which has never happened in the history of their village. So get the book and find out what these two heroins want to do and whether they get success or not!

Must buy for all girls
Such a feel good book! A simple story that speaks to girls and women. With illustrations that make each page come alive. It's almost a single-story version of Rebel for Girls.
