Q: What is the difference between the anodized and original versions of this scoop?

The "zerolon" version has kind of a dark, non-stick coating. The original version is plain aluminum, and kind of oxidizes over time...but they both work the same.

Q: Has anyone had any trouble with the finish chipping off? That's been my biggest problem with ice cream scoops.

I've had my oldest zeroll scoop for 17 years or so and still going without issues. Now if I could stop my wife from using my zeroll spade to scoop lasagna it might help last longer

Q: In the past, products of this style have been known to explode... Has something been done to the design to address this issue?

I don’t know that anything special has been done to prevent the exploding. I keep mine out of hot water to prevent an explosion.

Q: Mine doesn’t work as it should. Any ideas?

Has it ever worked? Have you mistakenly put your scoop in your dishwasher? Does your scoop have any noticable damage?
