I like it, but....
I like the book , but it seems to go on and on . I"m still reading it and at chapter 44 had to look and see just how much longer this book goes on , the Kindle edition. I have also known people on meth, neighbors and friends. I have even tried meth twice myself. The first time I got a headache for two days and the 2nd time 10 years later when I saw so many people using it . And this guy says , you must have got a bad batch the first time , so here try some of this primo stuff. I did a tiny teeny little bit and instant headache again. NEVER AGAIN. When I read how it has taken over whole counties almost or whole neighborhoods , I wonder why . Cheap and easy to get , but I love my sleep and tweaking out of my brains is not my idea of a good time. I was stupid and young to try it and thank God I hated it. It is a soul stealing drug. My friend, Mike can't sit still and he can't keep his mouth from moving around. I tell him to put some gum in his mouth . It wasembarrassing to be seen with him and so I don't see him much anymore. My landlady thought he had Parkinsons disease, and I told her that was what was wrong with him . What I find so sad in this book is that the whole family seems to be involved, mother and her daughters, sister and the cook. What about these kids ?Very interesting story , but also very sad because it is true .

A Candid Account by a Gifted Story-teller
"Meth: A Memoir" is a candid account of a Methamphetamine addict/cook who becamequite involved in his elavated "God Like Status" amongst his communityof fellow drug users due to his skill to produce/sell a quality substanceof Meth. Finding this experence memorable and fun at times, he writes thatthe common side effects that occur in many users, such as: loosing teeth, and premature aging didn't happen with him.The beginning of the book was interesting and easy to follow. Huffman rememberedhis single mother smoking "Weeds" with a family friend as a 7 yr old, she moved herfamily around many times, and lived with her children, due to poverty in anold school bus.As a young man he was incarcerated, and fathered a son when he got out of prison. He had a total of 3 wives: one of which he considers a friend to this day, theothers unsuitable for numerous reasons, relating from drug abuse and interest inother men. Of his two biological sons, he didn't seem involved in their direct careor upbringing. He wrote fondly of his stepchildren. The continual comings/goings for days on end without sleep, the numerous involvementsof people, situations, activities while using/cooking Meth are often irrational and difficultto follow. There are a total of 60 chapters, and no Table of Contents for refrence. Theauthor is a gifted story-teller. This unique, interesting, perspective must be read with avery open mind.

A tad tedious
This book garnered three stars from me because while it started kind of intriguingly, it soon became pretty tedious and monotonous. Around chapter 40 I finally was just tired of all the random people coming in and out of the story and all the characters starting blending into one. All the girlfriends (the pretty little dope whores) and all the other cooks (the mostly incompetent competition)...it was just over for me. I finished the end of the book which wasn't any kind of twist or surprise because you know all along the author is in prison for the manufacturing of meth. I just have nothing to show for it. NOT REALLY RECOMMENDED in the "addiction memoir" genre.

Unbelievable!
This story written by a meth cook is difficult to imagine by any sober person. All of the stealing, lying and deception. Wayne is considered a "king" because he's a meth cook and a good meth cook at that. In a world where everyone wants to be you, be around you and do everything for you just for that hit. Girls, well girls do it all for drugs!! Wayne tells his story in an easy to read fashion. I did use the, xray a lot because I would get people mixed up, but that could just be me! Entertaining. Didn't want to sleep so I could read this book!

A Great Read
I enjoy true accounts of the addicted individual, especially when they attempt to justify their choices. I was not disappointed in this account in the least.A great way for laymen and professionals alike to get a glimpse into the world of Meth production, addiction, psychosis and effect it is having on every one of us in the US.Well written memoir that also serves as a warning to those considering dabbling in this arena...The author tries his best to dispel some "myths" he perceives are being fed to the public I.e. it's not likely that a meth lab blows up, though he has like three fires happen.....I really enjoyed this book.

Good book, if you're looking for something to put yourself to sleep at night!
As a former, long time meth addict (with 17 yrs clean), I thought I might enjoy reading about something I could relate to. And in a few ways I did, for a little while. But, this book just went on and on, and on….............the 281or so pages seemed like one of the longest books I've ever read!! Not only did it feel like "Groundhog Day", where each day was just a repeat of the day before, with maybe different people, but there were so many people in it that I couldn't keep track of all of them! I was constantly thinking, "who is this person? And where did he/she come from?" Now basically yes, a meth addicts life IS very repetitive, 'score, get high, score again if needed, stay up for 4-6 days, crash for about 24hrs., wake up, (probably eat, since its been 4-7 days!!), and then repeat those steps again. But reading an entire book of these steps with the cooking added gets BORING!!! I only finished it because I kept thinking that it HAD TO change along the line somewhere or this guy would still be doing the same thing, not writing a book. I only gave it 2 stars, and feel generous. Don't waste your time, or your $1.99!!

This was an absolutely boring book. All that ever happened was the narrater drove here, or there looking for supplies to cook meth, then he cooked it and the driving around started again. He had sex with almost all of the females he knew, even ones he said double crossed him. Not believable at all. The characters were all cookie cutter characters, and were not 'fleshed' out at all. If this was a work of fiction then I would just chalk it up to being a lousy read, but its a memoir and fell short.

Candid account
Seems a reasonably honest story of time in that 'lifestyle'; and not a glamorised retelling. Written as he recalls it

Repetitive
It's the same story over and over again: cooking some Meth, having sex with some girl, escaping from the cops - and starting all over. Quite boring,
