DP KVM works well for Windows Boxes, but doesn't work at all for MBPs
This is the second StarTech 4-Port DisplayPort switch I've tried from StarTech. I have the previous gen unit for work also. For Windows boxes, it works well enough, and forwards both USB and the DisplayPort signals onto at least one monitor well.Unfortunately there are a few issues which mean I'll end up using a different work KVM solution.1) It doesn't forward EDID like I'd hoped, so if I change machines, it will resize windows, change windows layouts as though it has lost the monitor on the box which is switched away from.2) It looks like it has the same issue as the previous gen box; due to some odd issue with EDID I can't get a single MacBook Pro, either Intel or Arm to work with the KVM. I've tried a variety of USB-C -> DP connectors, including cables from CableMatters, who tend to make bulletproof cables. If I connect directly from the MBPs to the DP on the monitor, it wakes the monitor up and works as expected, but if I connect through the KVM, it looks like OSX can understand that there is a monitor there, but it never wakes up connected through DP.If I was only using Windows boxes, I'd probably give it a 4-5... but it has a 1 star for Mac devices from me. I'd be tempted to say that it doesn't adhere to the advertising at all, given I can't get any MBPs I've connected to work with it. I'd give it a 2-3 star review to choose a mid-point between there.

Success with DP
This product worked out of the box as a DP/DP solution, however despite using a 4K DP/HDMI cable, it failed to connect my HDMI laptop.Tried researching for solutions such as DP/HDMI converters etc but found the mixed reviews and lack of quality advice frustrating.I’m using the monitors HDMI port for the laptop, which is annoying when I’ve a £400 kvm on my desk! The unit comes with a good selection of cables. The button array on the unit isn’t as tactile as I’d expect. Each button press comes with a beep which as far as I’m aware can’t be turned off.The switch latency between multiple devices is reasonable - Difficult to quantify in words unless I had a device to measure in milliseconds, so apologies if my review lacks that detail.I’ve not had any errors or unexpected behaviour since installing so overall I’m happy with the performance.Price wise it’s on the high side as a home purchase but necessary I think if working from home and need a reliable solution. The sound quality is questionable. It wasn’t a factor for me but I use occasionally and find it lets the unit down with interference, intermittent connectivity and generally very poor sound quality in both head phones and desktop speakers. I wouldn’t recommend this device if sound connectivity is an important requirement.Others may have a different views and experiences.

Not worth the price
Decided to get this switch since I work from home and figured at this price point it must be go and work without any hiccups.I was wrong, the audio quality for a headset is garbage, anyone when my headset ran through the switch has described it as a massive downgrade in audio quality, so now I have to move my headset between PCs when calling.I'm using a Corsair mouse and keyboard, which I didn't think would be a massive issue, but for some reason mouse sensitivity drops every now and then, not a massive issue, but is rather annoying, it gets to the point where I'd just move the peripherals between systems instead.I'm now having driver issues with it, I unplugged my laptop so I could work away from my desk and now the KVM switch isn't being recognised by my laptop.I used startech in the past for the 1080p 2 port switch and thought it was alright, but this is terrible. I've seen switches on Amazon that have the issues I've described and work about the same as this does now for half the price.

Does what others can't - just works out the box
Had no success with other 4K KVMs - bit the bullet to move from HDMI to DP (lots of HDMI to DP active adapters needed). Others kind of worked out the box - putting up with quirks and pointless limitations. This eliminates grey hair, swearing and wasted time.
