Started reading it for Statistical Mechanics [MSc (Physics)]. I have just read 4 chaptes so far but on the basis of it i can say→1st chapter is good, it tells about the preliminaries we should know before actually starting the subject.→ 2nd chapter is about how to express a physical problem in statistical manner. But it doesn't seem to provide any useful content, which someone can expect after reading the introduction of chapter.→ 3rd chapter describes how can we obtain the laws of thermodynamics on the basis of postulate of equal a priori probability. The concept of temperature is the best thing explained in this chapter, one should definitely read it.→ 4th and 5th chapter deals with macroscopic thermodynamics in traditional way. Content is good, but you can also find the similar content in any book on thermodynamics.*** I will edit the review when I will read it completely, but as of now I will say that if you are the beginner, then you should start with this book. After having some basic understanding of the subject, then you can go for any other book.

If you're from NEHU, this book will really help you in Sir Mahato's class. the language of this book is easy to understand for Indian universities

It's a great book for beginners who has prior knowledge about thermodynamics and wants to learn the basics of statistical mechanics.
