The Cat in the Hat Beginner Book Dictionary (I Can Read It All by Myself Beginner Books)

Great resource. Each letter is represented with10-15 words with corresponding illustrations. Some words have additional information associated with them such as a simple definition, a sentence, or a simple phrase. The words are a combination of nouns, adjectives, verbs, and prepositions. This is not a traditional dictionary that has a word and a definition, although there are a few throughout the book. For instance: In the "N" section: The word is Nail and the illustration is a nail being hammered into some plywood this word has additional description. The word is "Near" and the illustration is a neighborhood with two boys waving at each other and a corresponding sentence, "Tom lives near Joe." Another word is Noon, the illustration is the sun above the steeple of a clock tower and the definition, "the middle of the day". All this to say, loving our "dictionary". It is a great resource as we teach our little one to build words.

I grew up with this great book and am glad to be able to pass it along to my kids. The older copy I have is well-worn and pages are falling out. This is a great addition to any children's library. Some corrections have been made since it was first published, such as the picture of children being spanked over a knee! The pictures are inspiration for children in the classic Dr. Seuss style. Our kids love looking at the pictures and learning their alphabet with this treasured classic.

I found the Collector's Addition for my grandkids. This book was great for me encouraging me to read as a child. The pictures are fun and helpful.

I bought this dictionary after seeing it in my son's kindergarten class. I am a Dr. Seuss fan and this dictionary is wonderful! So many illustrations, some show the word being used in a sentence, and its really thought out. My son is learning how to use a dictionary so this is a fun way to easing him into using what is normally a ginormous, cold, boring, paper-weight of a book.

Brand new

My kids love it as they do all the car in the had stuff. The 1 star penalty is for the seller since I bought it knowing it was second hand but it wasn't in as excellent a condition as the description. All intact and all but a few more scribbles than I liked.

Removes some of the problematic content from previous publishings.
