100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic

Since I am a beginner plein air painter from the east coast I thought wow, this book is a wonderful idea. I can see how all of these wonderful artist paint our lush landscapes on the east coast because most artist who have books are from the west coast. But I am somewhat disappointed in the information given and the artwork. Each artist has two pages of information, 1/2 page includes their bio which is taken exactly word by word from their web sites. Nothing new? And then it has four or five pictures of their paintings. The artwork is beautifully reproduced, but most of the pictures are very small, the smallest being only 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 and the largest maybe 5 inches. It is just a catalog and it does say that on the cover, I guess I just expected more. It is a beautiful book, and if you do not already know these artist then you will find it relevant. Personally, for me I think a digital book would have served me better so I could at least see the artwork, or better yet just go to their websites.

The book is beautifully done. Artwork is beautifully reproduced. Content about the artists and personal experiences with Plein Air paintings is inspiring. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves art and the creative process of doing art. Thank you Gary Pendleton.

Great works of art, and explanation of the art of plein air painters of the Mid-Atlantic. Some of whom I know personally. Great addition to any Art History library.

Great book to learn about mid-atlantic artists

Beautiful book!

This is an absolutely gorgeous book. Mindfully put together - it delights the eye! The showcased artists take us on a journey of the mid-Atlantic and we know we are in good hands from the very first page. This book is an inspiration to artists as well as those who love to admire their work! And if you are an admirer of the Chesapeake Bay area, as I am, this book is just "plein" delicious!
