Q: Can this product be used in soups in place of fresh lemongrass stalks?

You could use an infusion bag. When soup is done remove the lemongrass bag. Lots of herbs are infused this way. Hope this helps

Q: Does this tea have caffiene?

The package indicates that it is 100% "Organic Lemongrass, cut" ... I found several websites that indicate lemongrass is naturally caffeine-free. There is approximately 1g of carbohydrate per teaspoon and instructions for how to make a cup of tea (which hasn't been enough to upset my diabetes). I don't have any effect from drinking caffeine, so cannot tell from personal experience.

Q: What is this used for?

I use it to make lemongrass tea. I believe the tea helps relieve ‘trigger finger’ and arthritic pain. It takes a week to ten days of drinking two cups of tea to feel the effects.

Q: This was recommended as a deterrent for cats in flower beds; does anyone know if it is effective?

I have no personnel experience with this but when I was living in Israel where I was able to just pick the leaves myself I saw cats all around. So I am not sure if it would be effective. But if cats are a big problem it might be worth a try.
