Lesson Plans for Teaching Writing

I needed this book for school.

This book is a collection of lesson plans for teaching writing. The book is organized by the stages of writing (from pre-writing to editing). A few of the plans are geared towards younger students (7-8), but can easily be modified for high school and even college composition classrooms. It's light on "theory," and heavy on activities that can immediately be deployed into your classroom, which helped me expand the number of in-class activities I can draw from to teach writing to my students. If you're looking for things to do in class that are different from your typical "go to" activities, this is a great buy. I added about 15-20 solid activities for my writing classes that I can pull from as my students work on essays. It's a great resource for any writing teacher with practical lesson plans to accommodate whatever types of writing projects you've assigned.

I read about this book in the NCTE brochure. Intrigued, I decided to find it on Amazon to save a few bucks (actually, I saved more like $20!). I consult this book as a resource for all of my writing plans because it is easy to use and the lessons are based on real writing skills our students need. While I continue to refer to a number of resources in my writing arsenal to inform my writing plans, I must admit that this book is my "go-to" for inventive activities and objectives. I strongly recommend it!

It is exactly as advertised, and I have gotten some good ideas from it. Book said it was used, but I can't tell that it was. Just like new.

Concisely written. Great even for experienced teachers.
