Review: The perfect collector's book - Writing as a collector of coins who lives in the UK, I wish there was something like the Bowers Guide series for British coins. This is one of the best coin collector books ever written. It has extensive information about the history of the Morgan dollar of 1878-1904 and 1921, the designer George T. Morgan himself, the mints, varieties, and how to collect, as well as an entry devoted to each Morgan dollar by year and mint issued (but not including the 2021 Morgan which is too recent). This volume is broadly similar to earlier editions, but its biggest difference is the inclusion of the 2015 discovery that preparations were made for a 1964 Morgan dollar which were abandoned -it seems none were ever struck. If you have an earlier edition it's a moot point whether it's worth buying this one as the main difference is updated pricing, apart from the 1964 revelation and guidance on counterfeits. However, if you don't have the book and fancy collecting Morgan dollars, ordering up a copy will save you a lot of money. Highly recommended and a reminder of how interesting the history of US coinage is, even if the coins can tend to look 'all the same'. Review: Infomative - Needs a little bit of reading to understand useful if you are just starting to collect.

This book is quite useful for beginners and also serves as a quick reference guide for advanced collectors. It gives a thorough history of the development of the coins and also provides an historical synopsis of each year that the coins were minted. It also gives not only mintage numbers but also shows what numbers of each year survive in each grade. Recommended for all Morgan enthusiasts.
