This book is highly detailed, and the author makes great efforts to introduce a reader to the fundamentals of nanomaterial synthesis, properties and characterisation. The author assumes that the reader is unfamiliar with the subject and starts from the basics and builds up in such a way as to ensure continuity.

Libro universitario che tratta in modo semplice e veloce le nanoparticelle in sintesi, caratterizzazione e applicazioni. Certi argomenti sono trattati in modo superficiale, ma è anche vero che il testo si propone di trattare un numero di argomenti molto elevato.

A well written book that presents not just a cursory review of the nanomaterials but also details some of the basis behind observed phenomena. Well suited for undergraduate students and also as a general reference. Highly recommend it compared to some of the other books out there.

Many books in this area are too concerned with the nano hype and less focused on the science behind it. Others present several chapters, each written by a specific set of authors, that are not necessarily correlated and seem more like a collection of review papers instead of a book. In this context, in my opinion, this book is one of the best books covering the subject (together with ozin's nano chemistry). It covers the real fundamentals and the science that drives the field together with current relevant advances and applications. The only negative aspect of the book is the illustrations, that could be colored and more eye-catching....I was hoping for that in this new edition...Even then, I will give it 5 stars...
