An encyclopedia type book full of colourful illustrations and child friendly text.
I bought this book for my 8 year old son to encourage him to learn about history (of everything!) in a way that would be fun and entertaining. This is a great book for children to read with their parents. It is structured in a storybook style that makes it very readable for young children eager to learn but who have short attention spans. A staggering range of subjects are covered in the book from dinosaurs to inventors making it very attractive to children of both sexes. My son loves the book and I notice him becoming more knowledgeable about a wide range of topics without him realising that this is in fact an educational book!Highly recommended!

Very informative but I think I found an error!
This book was an easy read. Very interesting and informative. Unfortunately I think there may be a mistake in the book regarding mention of the Hun, famously led by one Attila the Hun. The book appears to refer to the Hun as a Germanic tribe. As far as I know they were a horse riding warrior clan from central Asia.

A gift givers must for Christmas!
With it's ambitious title, this book presents the near impossible task of telling a story so vast, it would be impossible to fit in a bookshop, let alone a bookshelf.Absolutely Everything, well almost! This book gives it a pretty good go. Beautifully vibrant in design, even handed and balanced in tone. This book would be a wonderful addition to any book lover's shelf. Fizzing with illustrations and supporting facts and quotes. It is a throughly enjoyable reading experience designed to capture the attention and imagination of non fiction and fiction fans alike!

Better than Story of the World for home educators
We are home educators and found this to be a better spine for history than Story of the World. We are able to quickly blitz through all of history in one year with this, which means then we can use other resources to go into more detail later on. I have the adult version of this book, which I bought when it first came out, and found it so readable that I knew my children would like this. We read a chapter and then do some activities and watch some films / read books about what we have learnt in the chapter. I am allowing one year to get through the whole book.

Great book for all ages
Well written and informative book in a very readable format. Both our boys aged 12 and 9 enjoyed flicking through this book and reading various sections. It is laid out in 15 colour-coded chapters, each focusing on a different period of time from 13.8 billion years ago to present day. I’m sure this will also serve as a useful reference book for homework. Thoroughly recommended and would make a great birthday or Christmas present.
