This product was easy to use and looks fantastic. After sanding my 1930's wood floors and cleaning I applied the BonaSeal with a handheld applicator pad. It is a smallish bedroom. Poured a line on the floor and smoothed it out. Was done in no time. The next day I went over it with a pole sander w/fine grit paper. The BonaSeal brought out all the color in the wood and left a deep satin finish. I finished it with two coats of BonaTraffic. I am using these products to finish the rest of the floors in my house. I was anxious about doing it myself, but these products are great and made it easy. Easy to apply and no mess or smell. Definitely recommend!

If u watch the videos this stuff works great. I also am updating. This has been on our hardwood floors for over a year, with a Rottweiler running the floors. This product by far has beat any I have ever used. Still looks as good as the day we put it on!

I would have given it 5 stars, but after using it under Traffic HD I discovered the overlap marks from the sealer stay visible through the final product. Had I known that beforehand I would have been more careful with the application of the sealer. That's the only bummer about this product. I found one gallon covered 450 square feet even though it claims to do more. I was so afraid I would almost run out but barely made it. I used this sealer on 65 year old pine floors that were sanded down for refinishing (using a microfiber 9" roller on a cage roller, like Wooster Sherlock). This product did prevent the grain from raising and too much finish from absorbing on the first coat. I did not use a traditional stain on the pine so it required a sealer before clear coating it. (I used black tea then vinegar/steel wool brew to color the wood a vintage/rustic grey/cool brown.) I was able to brush the sealer on stairs (risers and steps are all solid pine) without it running. It dried within 2 hours at 40% humidity, 70 degrees. I will use this sealer again when we refinish the downstairs old oak flooring. SIDE NOTE- I am allergic to lots of things and it was nice to use a waterborne product with barely any smell to it. It is acrylic, not latex, so I had no reactions to it when it accidentally got on my skin or trouble breathing while working with it. No need to wear a respirator with this sealer (or the Traffic HD finish).

Wonderful product that is a must to use on oak to prevent the raising of the grain when using a waterbased finishing product - super easy to use and very low odor - this company advertises this as professional product but it's perfect for do-it-yourselfers who want ease of usage to get 1st rate results

Bona Classic Sealer arrived this morning. When I opened the bottle It was completely solid. Solid white chunks. The product is no good. I am very disappointed as I am on a time frame to complete project and now I have a defective product. I would not recommend.

i understand why this is the first coat, it is VERY sticky, creating a great adhesion layer. I got some on my hands and was picking it off for hours afterwards, unlike poly, this stuff created an excellent seal between the porous wood and the 2 top coats of Bona Traffic HD I did next,

Super easy and no odor. Recommended by professionals so we tried it versus using an oil based poly. Went on easy, dried quickly, and didn't stink up the house. For the bad reviews, I can only imagine what went wrong but the medium must be properly prepared for this to adhere. We also used two coats Bona Traffic HD after the Bonaseal. Looks great!
