Poldark - Box Set - Volumes 1-6 Paperback

First of all, I enjoyed these books very much. There are some elements that might've been socially acceptable 200+ years ago but that would prove problematic in contemporary times. But I read for enjoyment, not to be overly critical or pass moral judgments on fiction.My rating reflects the content of the text, not the quality of these particular editions, which are laden with typos. Better copy editing would've served these books well. Especially seeing as they've been in print for over half a century. The errors are a little annoying but the texts are still readable. I certainly wasnt stopped from tearing through these and ordering the followong set of the final six books in the series.

I totally LOVED the original "Poldark" series that aired years ago on PBS, but had never read the books. Someone recently said "Oh, you MUST read the books!" and she was right! Very glad I ordered these! My only criticism is that there are a number of little misprints & punctuation errors - apparently the final galleys weren't carefully proofread - but the Poldark saga is so absorbing that those things aren't getting in the way of my enjoyment of the stories.

Love the TV series so I bought this as a gift for someone who I thought would like it as well. The books are as good as the TV series...if not better (books usually are as they can go so much more into character development, etc). My friend is very happy with this gift set. It arrived quickly and as a boxed set...a great gift for any avid reader.

The books are readable and complete. The spines are nice. I have enjoyed the books content. Similar to the show but better, as all books are.

If you enjoyed the PBS Poldark series, then the books are for you. Volumes 1-6 were so good I couldn't put them down and read the entire series in a week. (So I, of course, had to order the next set.) The film series stays true to the books, but the books round out and go much deeper into the story than the film ever could. It's the age old, "If you liked the film, you'll really like the book".

This is an entertaining series, particularly if you are also watching the BBC series. The books provide a lot of depth and backstory that’s simply not possible with the on-screen version.Regarding the condition of the books, a few had slight bends or creases in the covers and corners of the top pages. Nothing too significant but they aren’t in perfect condition. Still well-worth the price for the box set.

I have only read the first book in the series, but really liked the writer's style. I have seen the series on Poldark on Masterpiece Theater on PBS. The script of the TV show follows the first book totally. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and have already loaned my first book to a friend.

I watched the tv series and decided to read the books. They are well written and move quickly. I’m on the second book and am enjoying them very much! I anticipate purchasing the next set once I finish these.

I have enjoyed reading the first book of the series so far. However it is going to take some time to read all six books. I will continue to read each one.
