Great value, easily added 1TB to our new Tablo DVR, got rid of cable and Satellite TV!
So we recently got rid of our cable/satellite TV (just too much $) and replaced it with a Tablo. The ONLY thing I wasn't a fan of on the Tablo is that is has very small internal memory for recordings (Tablo is also a DVR, WOW!). However they designed it with a USB port for an external hard drive! My Tablo came w/ 128G memory, and I found out I was always having to delete stuff to make room. Connected this 1TB solid state drive into my Tablo and WOW! We've had it well over a month now and it's like 14% full! I almost got the 2TB but so far we are doing great with this 1TB drive, love it, works great, good price! Bye Bye cable and satellite TV!

It is fast.
Review of SSK 1TB SSD thumb drive. This is an external SSD (Solid State Drive), not an external HDD (Hard Disk Drive). Note the differences are important. An SSD is small, fast, and rugged. The little SSD can be dropped or shaken or bumped. Since there are no mechanical moving parts in an SSD, they will last for years as an internal drive because they are powered more often. The major problem with SSDs is that if left unpowered for more than a year, the data may get corrupted. Thus longterm archive storage as a thumb drive may be a problem. Basically as an SSD is written to, it charges/discharges tiny solidstate cells. That charge can dissipate over time and data is lost. So if using an external SSD remember to power it up every now again.I was able to clone a 512gb SSD internal drive within about 20 minutes. So this drive is FAST.

You can run games off this SSD.
Great product! I used it to run a game that requires an SSD and it worked like a charm.

Small and portable
I bought this to back up my iPad. I like the size of the drive. It's small and portable. I will say the transfer rate isn't the best, but it works for what I need. This little guy does tend to heat up. Also, it will drain your iPad, if you're doing extended file transfers. In terms of design, I kind of wish there was a way to clip the drive onto carabiner clip. Something like that. Or a small drawstring bag to keep the cord and drive in?The drive is affordable, especially for being a 1 TB drive. I plan to purchase a couple more, for redundancy and for my laptop.

Good drive, but Severe Thermal Throttling
This is one of the very few NVMe drives that has low enough power consumption to work with a phone or tablet. Windows 11 treats it as a real hard drive rather than a flash drive (deleted files are put in the NVMe's Recycle Bin rather than being permanently deleted).I got it so I could have a large media library in a portable format. It will work just fine for this. However, it started copying files from my old USB3 hard drive at 300mb/second. But, as soon as the NVME drive heated up, this dropped to 30 mb/second. Transferring 900 GB of data took over 6 hours! So, while this little drive works great for carrying files with you, it's not suitable for transferring large amounts of data. Or, for example, editing large video files directly on the drive. As an experiment, I tried sealing the hot drive in a zip lock bag and putting an ice pack on it. Once the outside case was cool to the touch, I plugged it back in. It started at 300 mb/second and almost immediately dropped back to 30. I'm guessing that the flat chip inside an oval case means there's dead air space between them. So even if you kept the outside case cooled with a fan or ice cube, the chip inside is still going to overheat.Other than the Thermal Throttling, this little hard drive is great! If SSK can come up with a case design that transfers the heat away from the chip, even if it requires external cooling, they’ll have a real winner!
