The most common-sense design in plumbing I've ever seen
I've been frustrated for years with tub spout diverters that leak and rob the shower head of full water pressure. I tried replacing the internal rubber washer, adding silicone plumbers lubricant, and even replacing the entire spout. Still, all of the top-pull diverters were disappointing. One day, I stayed at a family members house, I was surprised to see a pull-down diverter. It performed well, and struck me as being incredibly smart to just let gravity do its job. I set out my search for the same diverter, but was disappointed that no hardware store carried this. Eventually, I found it here on Amazon. I was a bit worried that some buyers thought it was cheap because it was plastic, but at only $20 I thought I'd give it a try. I had already wasted more money on other pull-up diverters that disappointed. I am incredibly pleased with this one. I've had it for several months now, and its great. I was so pleased that I ordered a second one for my other bathroom.First, let me forewarn all buyers that you will probably need a plumber to sweat the brass fitting. I suspected I would need a plumber, so I was not hugely disappointed. My trial and error with other diverters taught me that no two manufacturers make their tub spouts with a standard length of wall-to-thread fitting. Even for Kohler (the manufacturer of the previous fitting that I had on my shower/bath), different styles had different lengths, causing me to make several returns to the hardware store because none of them could be thread just right to result in both no leaks at the thread and a flush fit to the wall.Second, it should be noted that the mounting design of this spout is ingenious. The engineers at Delta hit it out of the ballpark with this one. Its impossible to see from a simple picture on Amazon, and even if you research it on Delta's website, its difficult to understand until you actually have it in hand. Basically, the brass fitting that requires a solder to the feed pipe from the wall can be mounted any distance from 2-4 inches out. The fitting has an O-ring and the diverter body's internal structure has a long threaded plastic tube. The design allows a lot of latitude to thread on the diverter and get a snug fit against the wall. Because of the O-ring design, there is a water tight fit at basically any distance within the 2-4 inch range.Third, take comfort in the fact that plumbers highly recommend this design. Although I can handle most do-it-yourself repairs, I wasn't comfortable with removing the feed pipe's old fitting and sweating on a new one myself. When my plumber came, he immediately recognized the Delta design and was very pleased with my choice. He told me that he has talked out many homeowners from replacing their spouts with anything but this type of Delta fitting. Not only is the final performance fool proof, but the sweating process was also very sensible. After heating and removing the old fitting, the Delta brass fitting simply slipped on the existing pipe with no cutting required. Again, its hard to explain even with pictures, but the fitting has no stop-end flange and can be sweated in place on a pipe that extends anywhere from 2-4 inches from the wall.Lastly, its of no consequence that the majority of the spout is plastic. Its not going to break easily, and at only $20 its a quick fix (assuming you already had already paid a plumber for the one-time install of the brass fitting). I would just as soon buy a new one every now and then rather than endlessly trying to scrub off hard water and calcium deposits. In summary, I've been using it for months now. I am extremely satisfied with it. It diverts every drop of water to the shower head. It cleans up nicely. When the time comes that mineral deposits muck up the simple moving parts in the front or the exterior has lost its luster, I'll happily buy another one, screw it in place in 60 seconds, and ponder how I could recoup $4-$5 worth of brass fitting that I won't ever need to replace.

Finally a Diverter Tub Spout That Does Not Leak/Waste Water When Shower Is Engaged!
This Delta diverter tub spout is amazing! It is cheap, it looks good, it has flexible installation options, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - IT DOES NOT LEAK/WASTE WATER WHEN SHOWER IS ENGAGED!!!Update 5/10/2023 - Picture order was messed up somehow. Updated numbers referenced in the review. Two of the bathrooms in my house were equipped with Moen diverter tub spout (see picture 2) when the house was built brand new. They leaked water like crazy when shower is engaged since day one! Over the years I have replaced them a few times thinking maybe they have improved the design and made them better. NOPE! They still leak water like crazy when shower is engaged. Finally I had had enough and looked for other alternatives. I found this Delta spout and a Kissler & Co 82-0025 tub spout. The Kissler & Co spout uses a quarter-turn ball valve in the spout to divert water to shower. This makes sense and I'm sure it will not leak or waste water either. But aesthetics-wise it does not look as good as the Delta. So I ordered 2 of the Deltas to give them a try.The original Moen spout was screwed on with Teflon tape. After I removed it I ended up with a copper pipe with a threaded adapter sticking out of the wall for about 4" (picture 3). I could use the same screw-on installation for the Delta but the Delta requires that the end of the threaded adapter to be 5/8" to 1-5/8" from the wall for the screw-on installation. This means that I would have to cut the pipe and solder (sweat) a new threaded adapter afterwards to meet the requirement. Fortunately the Delta spout also has the option to sweat its own adapter onto the pipe directly. For this option the requirement is the pipe length from the wall to be less than 3-1/2". As can be seen in picture 8, after I unsoldered the old threaded adapter, the pipe measured just shy of 3-1/2" from the wall. So it was perfect for the sweat-on installation.Make sure to take the o-ring off the Delat spout's adapter before you sweat it onto copper pipe to avoid damaging the o-ring. Also the end of the adapter has to be between 1/4" to 1" from the wall. I set it to 7/8" as shown in picture 4. Picture 1 shows the Delta adapter sweated and o-ring put back. After that simply screw the spout onto the adapter and you are done. Picture 5 shows this. You can add the final touch by caulking the base of the spout and wall. One last thing - Delta spout has a notch/slot on the bottom of its base (picture 7). This is for draining water in case there is a leak through Teflon tape (screw-on installation) or due to failed o-ring. Make sure to leave this notch/slot open when you caulk so water can drain out for you to notice if there is a leak, and water won't accumulate and get behind the wall through pipe opening.

Good faucet
Stylish, good design, worked like genuine. The bypass button is on the bottom, just pull out and push in. Easy to install

Work well if your pipe matches the required length
Overall it works well. I believe the body is chrome plated metal and the pull down nozzle is chrome painted plastic. It looks good though perhaps not the most fashionable with the pull down nozzle. It accepts a range of pipe length. If your pipe doesn't meet that range, you will need to put together a new pipe and elbow to the valve (not too difficult but you will need access via a panel, otherwise would require total shower re-build).Delta does note that all faucet bypass mechanisms should be pulled prior to turning on the water to avoid wear, which is very interesting. I generally do not do this but it makes sense if you really want to extend the longevity.Overall I recommend if you like the look and the range of pipe length input matches your current install. If not, you may want to look elsewhere so that you don't have to do a rebuild if your pipes are still good.

Good for the price
Works well, and installed easily, but it does feel a little cheap. It feels like it could break pretty easily.
