Don't let it's simplicity fool you!
This is an amazing machine. It's going on 30 years old and still going strong. No microprocessors, entirely analog. It's heavy but it goes down to 250ft underwater and built like a tank. Most machines sound fainter as targets get deeper. This means you reach a point where faint ticks and blips of deep targets are confused with blips and ticks of small bits of surface trash and are ignored. With the CZ you turn up the BOOST and deep targets become loud again. This is VERY useful. Run with boost all the way up and you have a very deep and hard hitting machine.I love this thing.

Great Product.....BUT.....
Great product, but, the search coil has no protector on it, so be aware when using it because the ground will scratch it up! There is a coil protector you can buy on other site! Also, be aware when removing the unit from the shaft, very sharp corners, and they will cut you!!

Great saltwater machine.....
In the world of saltwater beach metal detecting, the two most popular detectors used by serious hunters that offer target discrimination are this one, the Fisher CZ-21 and the Minelab Excalibur.I prefer this unit because it has the ability to be silent while searching until a target is under the coil where as the Minelab has a continuous threshold tone that changes frequency when over a target. (I have tinnitus, so I don't like that!)The CZ-21 is a rugged, durable, waterproof multi-frequency unit that is designed to operate in a wet saltwater environment that other detectors can't. It is happy in water knee deep/waist deep/250 feet deep or on dry land. The control box can be detached from the shaft and can be hip mounted on your belt making the shaft and coil one of the lightest detectors to use on the market today. The unit has 3 different tones- low, medium, and high that it sends to the waterproof earphones depending on what type of metal is under the coil. This allows the user to differentiate between likely junk items, gold items, and silver items. Less digging than with a pulse induction unit (PI) which can't discriminate between metal types.I have dug up salty sand encrusted old pennies at least a foot deep with mine. This is a very deep seeking machine as far as metal detectors go. Once you learn the tones of the detector, it's easy to pass up digging bottle caps and other trash. You still have to dig pull tabs because they sound the same as gold! Oh well.....good exercise.Get yourself a good high quality sand scoop and go have some fun......freshwater lake beach or saltwater beach. It can also be used the same way as a regular detector for relic/coin hunting at parks or old battlefields. Can't go wrong with this unit.....I love mine.
