Most economical hard case for ARs
I recently purchased an AR and needed a case for it to go to the range and back. I like the idea of a hard case and having "compartments" to hold magazines, optics, maybe ammo, and what not. I wasn't concerned so much about strapping the gun in to the case since I would be the one handling it, or maybe I just trust the foam isolates any movement more than I should. Nevertheless, I installed the velcro straps for the gun, and put the remaining two straps in one of the compartments to hold my 2x red dot. I cannot complain for the price as this is much cheaper than most other options out there, but here are the cons I came up with.1) only 4 straps are included. So you essentially get 2 for the firearm, and 1 for two compartments, or like I did 2 for one compartment. Not a huge deal and will great for what I need, but having the option to use more straps in other compartments would have been nice.2) I was lucky enough to keep track of the screws when installing the compartment dividers and straps. You only get just what you need to install them, so don't lose one of those little screws.3) I read a review before purchasing about only have 1 set of places to screw the straps for the firearm. Like I mentioned above, I didn't care a lot about this so it didn't stop me from purchasing. I will end up using the straps in that default location because it works for my AR - though it might not work for everyone. Having multiple locations would be ideal to make this a true universal case4) The plastic case will crack if you drop a cinder block falling from a foot above it and don't have any foam inside. Have I proved this? Of course not. The short here is that the plastic casing isn't made like a pelican box. However for my needs and with only me or someone I know handling it, and with the dense foam inside, I am not worried about it. I also didn't spend pelican money on this, so you should expect it won't be the same material. After all of these cons, the pros still easily outweigh them for my use. Is it right for you? What are your expectations? Again, for my purpose this is exactly what I was looking for and I expect it to last the life of the firearm. I will tell you that you won't find one like it in this price range. So if this is your budget, and you aren't expecting to put it thru baggage at an airport, just buy it already.

Quality product for the price
Ordered on April 25th, delivered on the 28th. Outstanding as per usual with Amazon. The case itself is about what I expected for sub-$60. I didn't expect to get Fort Knox-level security and/or sturdiness, so I wasn't disappointed. I just needed something to haul my AR to the range and back, that wasn't going to break the bank. That said, the case IS sturdy, and the foam padding/straps keeps my rifle securely in place. The cut-outs at the corners offer a snug compartment for magazines, spare ammo boxes, small supplies, etc.As a side note, when the case arrived, one of the four plastic clasps was broken and unusable. I contacted Flambeau's customer service via email to see if they could send a replacement clasp (Amazon would have replaced the ENTIRE case = P.I.T.A.) Within 5 minutes I had a reply, and the new clasp was in the mail the following day. (Shout-out to Courtney! OUTSTANDING!!) For that alone, Flambeau has earned my loyalty. Great job!

If you have lots of AR stuff this is a great deal
I am returning this case because it is far larger than my needs, which I feel badly about. My disappointment is doubled because it is a very well made case and inexpensive. I should have looked at the dimensions more carefully. On the other hand it is a 5 Star case for someone else with greater space needs than my own. It has two locking holes at the handle which is a lot better than 4 locking holes on the handle side like other cases I have. It has 4 easy to use snap fasteners. If traveling on an aircraft and you need room for an AR with scope, ammo, and other stuff this might be the case for you. This also makes for a great safe storage case out of the reach of children.Amazon used to carry cases that were more like >40-38" x 8" x 4", but I can't find them. Smaller cases are better for me because I put them into a large duffle bag. It is only common sense to not advertise the carrying of a fire arm and have it snatched at the airport. A smaller case also makes sense if carrying the shorter carbines or take down rifles. TSA sometimes gets annoyed at the duffle bag when they inspect it, but if people cannot see it ....they don't get strange thoughts. It also avoids some baggage handler getting ideas as well.
