Intel Core i5-9500 Desktop Processor 6 Cores up to 4.GHz LGA1151 300 Series 65W (BX80684I59500)

I do very little gaming but a lot of photo editing, and bought this as a direct replacement for my old (but otherwise adequate) Pentium Gold G5400 CPU, as the i5-9500 includes the AVX2 instruction set that the latest edition of Adobe Photoshop requires to run.The i5-9500 was purchased from Amazon US but was delivered to my address in the UK in little more than a week which, given that this was immediately before Christmas, is pretty impressive. The product came in an OEM box stating "This is not Intel Original Packaging" and came without instructions. Nevertheless it is unused and appears to the the genuine article and is supplied with heatsink.Swapping over the CPU's was straightforward as I ran the old Pentium Gold at 100% for 5 minutes to soften the thermal paste before removing the old heatsink. Once the new CPU and heatsink were installed I was able to crank my memory speed up from 2400 to 2666 in BIOS, as the new CPU and my old memory are both capable of this. Windows 10 recognised the new CPU without any bother and Adobe Creative Cloud went about updating my Adobe Photoshop to the latest version - all good!Apart from now giving me the AVX2 instruction set, I'm blown away by the speed that the i5-9500 renders the preview thumbnails in Topaz Studio 2 - what used to take a good 10 seconds to render 4 preview thumbnails with the Pentium Gold can now be done in less than half a second - I'd say it renders around 20 times faster. But as I don't do much gaming I can't comment on its gaming performance.I'm very satisfied with this product which came at a good price, and with the prompt delivery.
