S.T. Dupont Defi XXtreme Lighter Black/Matt Red

This lighter was very expensive, but works every time without fail. I have had it for 2 months and it works every time. I do use the Defy XX-Extreme lighter fluid that is recommended. The lighter works in heavy winds without fail. So far this is the best lighter that I have ever purchased. And I have bought quite a few through the years. I would purchase another ST DuPont accessory.

I bought a Dupont Defi xtreme and it had an issue with one of the gas valves about 45 days after I purchased it. I sent it back and Art sent me a new one. I will buy many more lighters and cigar accessories from Art in the future. Great customer service.

The media could not be loaded. $300 piece of crap. This is the 3rd Defi Xxtreme lighter I’ve purchased from ST DuPont. The first one broke in a month. Quit sparking. The 2nd one, it’s replacement, quit working in 2 months. And the 3rd quit in 2 weeks. I’ve sent them in to DuPont for replacement, and though their customer service department agreed with me (after 3 weeks of back and forth emails) I’ve yet to see the replacements. And the customer service rep at DuPont has been out of the office 10 days out of the 21 days I’ve been trying to communicate with her. Very frustrating.

I live in the mountains where the high altitude kills most lighters. The S.T. Dupont blows all other lighters away and works perfectly in all conditions.

So firstly…the one guy who wrote “it doesn’t light upside down…”IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO LIGHT UPSIDE DOWN! It’s a safety locking mechanism designed to prevent users from burning a hole in your pocket! It’s not meant to be a crack pipe lighter. As far as not sparking after a month…that probably has to do with the user getting ash and dirt in the chamber. If you look at the guy’s video…there’s a lot of darkening around the top by the chamber, there’s a lot of discolorization…if he’s smoking a cigar, he’s jamming the lit lighter right into the foot of the cigar. Also something you’re not supposed to do. But I agree that the Dupont customer service does suck.

The media could not be loaded. This lighter is junk... look great, but the reliability is horrible. I've had it for years and it rarely just "works".... it won't light upside down at all due to the mechanism that opens the flame "door"... I honestly switched to cheap gas station jet lighter and am much happier...
