Gwynne's Latin: The Ultimate Introduction to Latin Including the Latin in Everyday English Hardcover – October 1, 2015

This book is not only a compact size for bringing wherever you want to go but it is exceptionally written. As the author states, it is meant to provide you a Latin learning resource up to a high level, to prepare you to learn more through reading, etc. It is finally a foundation resource for learning Latin much needed. I personally think Mr. Gwynne's way of teaching Latin is proper and serves to educate you as a Classics student would be in the prime of learning pre-1960's. I simply love this book, now one of my favorite language books ever.

The most straightforward approach to Latin I've read. Gwynne gives clear, no-nonsense advice on the learning of Latin. He affords insight on how English and Latin grammar keep company. A nice feature of the book is its size. You can stick it in a pocket or purse for those moments when you want something absorbing to think about.

This is an excellent and demanding approach to the study of Latin. Gwynne is very sure of himself, and should be, he is an expert. Highly recommended for those who wish to deal with Latin, or are required to do so. Highly interesting and enlightening!

It says verbatim in the text: "the answers to the above text are comprised in the exercises of the previous chapter" this was true for the first chapters, but fails later on. For example, I checked chapter 14 and 16 for the answers to chapter 15 and couldn't find them any where. Very confused. Other than that, quite a good book.

My husband is teaching my daughter (10 years old) from this book and she is loving it. He loves the teaching style too.

A not terrible introduction to the latin language. No better or worse than most other grammars. Oddly the author seems to believe that once something has been memorized it stays memorized forever.Participles are barely addressed. Also you will need a latin dictionary since many words used in this book are not defined in the glossary.

OK Text depending upon what you are after. Lingua Latina is my preference, or Wheelock if you prefer.

Masterful. The introduction alone is superb and worth the price of the book.
