Give it time, they'll do the job
These work, give them time. In the beginning of the season, i will put some sort of meat in the container. Yellowjackets look for protein in the beginning then carbohydrates later on. I have killed hundreds of YJ with these. I get them every year. some hornets will find their way out of the lower compartment but the upper compartment, when it really gets going, is a kill zone. I buy the sticky ones too, which kill YJ but also wasps.

Does not work Satisfactorily for NJ wasps and hornets
I have placed two of the traps so far, and they have been in place for the month of May. I have a lot of wasps and hornets flying around my deck and front porch, but I have only trapped three wasps in the bottom section of the deck trap so far, even though the trap is within 2' of where a wasp built a nest. Perhaps the attractant in the upper chamber does not attract New Jersey wasps and hornets; maybe it can work for yellow jackets, but they do not show up at my house until the fall.

These really work
Late summer and early fall in Minnesota is a terrible time for Wasps, Hornets and Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately that is when we have our annual family reunion at our summer home on the lake. They are easy to use and begin to attract the pesky insects within an hour. I buy 3 at a time to make certain we adequately cover our large patio area.Since I began using these several years ago, our problem with stinging bees has disappeared. The only negative, depending on how often you choose to empty the traps. The first time i had 3 inches of decomposing bees in the traps.

They attract wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets but not necessarily capturing all they attract.
I have these hung in three widely spaced locations around my house and whereas they have attracted a fair amount of wasps, hornets and yellow jackets into the traps, most of the attracted W, H, & Y remain outside the traps and there seem to be even more of these insects around our house now than before I hung the traps. I'm just not sure they are working as advertised. I tried them in different locations, too, with little change in what goes into the traps. Also, the attractant seems to degrade really rapidly, especially in our hot summer weather, much faster than even the literature suggested.

These really work!
We had one in garage storage for1 yr. Put it up Sunday but couldn't take it down because of swarm activity at the trap. Got up Thursday at 5am to retrieve the over filled trap so I can let it sit in my garage till need due and I can empty it. Other 2 shots are new traps I put up at 7:30 last night with only 1 hour of light left. If you didn't have success, you did something wrong or somehow you got bad attractant, change the attractant it. This is an amazing trap.

Waste of money
Don't waste your money the bees wasps fly all around it but nothing goes in. Read the directions over thought I made a mistake just does not work. Cannot get a hold of sellers and Amazon's not very helpful. Finally got a hold of the seller and it's a day past the return date so they will not take it back. I recommend not buying these they do not work.

Thanks! It Works!
They have worked all 10ish times I have used them. Have seen anywhere from 5-20 caught by the time it's time to refill. Most importantly, I don't see any more wasps nests on my house, backyard playground, or anywhere on my property! Thanks!

Does not work in Southern California
Placed this outside near where wasps are nesting up in my clay tile roof area. Setup per instructions and not a single wasp was caught. There were times I would see them fly by to take a look at it, but none entered. Was trying to use in the Los Angeles Area
