The media could not be loaded. Will admit, I didn't buy this for kids (I don't have kids) but rather for myself! I wanted to spice up my baking...since that's all I seem to be doing these days mid-quarantine. I've drawn some really cute and fun designs to decorate cakes, cookies, cupcakes, you name it with. And coolest part, I think, is that whatever you draw hardens within minutes, so you can pick it up and stick it atop a cupcake or cake for added decor! I've been getting so many compliments on my baked goods lately because of it. So happy I found the Chocolate Pen!

My daughter loves this and has made several cookies that tasted good...but she made an EXTREME mess while doing so. You've been warned...

It's very rare when I submit a one (1) star review, but this one should get ZERO stars for four reasons.1. Batteries NOT included. As cheap as batteries are nowadays the mfgr. could have thrown in 2 AAA batteries for the pen.2. Any other item we have ever used that needs batteries has a slide on/off cover. Not this one. You will need a #0 Philips screwdriver to remove the battery cover.3. While a USB charging cable is included for the warming tray, a charging block of 2.0 A is required and is not included.And finally the MAIN reason why I rated this one star and am returning it.4. It requires PROPRIETARY chocolate packages and at 8 for $15.99 this becomes an expensive toy. Plus the ingredients list on the chocolate is probably enough to cause health issues. The following is from the manufacturer's website:***WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS/ARE THEY ALLERGEN-FREE?We're happy to answer that the chocolate for the Chocolate Pen does not contain nuts or gluten among the ingredients in the chocolate. Hence, it is going back.FINAL VERDICT:Do NOT waste your time or money with this. You make two batches of stuff with it and you now have spent more than what you paid for the pen to begin with. I purchased this for my seven year old for Christmas. He loves candy and was very excited. We successfully made about 15 candies using the molds provided. The candy does taste delicious! The kit comes with four packs of meltable candy and we used that very quickly. I purchased an extra four pack of candy and it was very necessary. The candy has to melted to the right temperature to be loaded into the pen. It's hard to load the pen without wasting any of the melted candy. When the pen is actually in use it runs out of candy quickly so be ready to reload. I would recommend this product just make sure you purchase enough candy refills.

The pen did not work, but the warmer did.

Out the box the product looked great. Enough chocolate to get you started. Replacement chocolate can be ordered online. Detailed instructions on how to use the machine. Warmer keeps the chocolate melted and easy to work with. To avoid any clogs you have to be sure to get the chocolate into the molds quickly because the chocolate will begin to cool once in the pen. Just remember to keep the hole submerged at all times to avoid air pockets in the tube. Cleaning is a little tedious but the kids enjoy the toy so I dont mind.

I bought this for my daughters (aged 12, 11, 11) to make chocolate molds for cupcakes and cakes.It is very easy to use, and the pen is easy to clean. It makes very cute shapes and you can add 2-3 colors to each shape easily.The warming tray took a while to warm up, but once the melting chocolates were melted and ready, it’s so easy to fill the pen. The pen itself could have a more refined point, but it works well regardless fordetailing.I’d buy this again as gifts for my daughters’ friends.
