Works very well
I constructed 6 of these. I used 30" PVC lengths in 5 of them and all worked perfectly for 5-1/2' diameter structures. I tried to get creative with 1 and used 60" PVC lengths for a 10-1/2' diameter structure. It put too much stress on the porcupine ball and snapped it in half. I bolted it back together and managed to get this huge sputnik looking structure in 20' of water near the other 5 that are in 12' of water. they all hold fish but the crappie seem to love the 10-1/2' one. It would be nice if a heavy duty porcupine ball could be manufactured for use with 60" PVC lengths. But no complaints.

Already attracting fish
Easy for my grandchildren to assemble. They enjoyed the process of putting them under the dockWhen the lake comes up, they will be completely under the water. We already have bass bedding around them. Due to the style, the fish appear to feel safe and do not swim away. The grandchildren can stand on the sock and watch the fish swim among the pipes. I ordered even more.

Great for New Pond Setup — Just Use PVC Glue at the Seam
I recently installed these in a brand-new one-acre pond and overall, I'm very happy with them. They’re easy to assemble and work well underwater. I built three total—one large 24" diffuser for the deep end, and two smaller ones around 18" each. The 24" version is massive, so definitely place that one where you have the most depth. As other reviewers have noted, the seam in the center of the ball can split. Knowing this, I used a generous amount of PVC glue on the middle seam during assembly, and so far it’s held up perfectly. If you prep them right, they’re a solid addition to any pond setup. Great performance and value once installed!

Worth every penny
Started a structure program 3 years ago with PVC contraptions, and Christmas trees. Was going well but I Purchased a Dozen spheres and put these together with PVC from Lowes. They have been in the water 9 months. These are covered with algae and there are always fish around them. Our fishing success is getting better and we expect the fish population to continue to grow. These spheres provide a better cover and seem to attract morte fish than anything else in our lake. We plan to add a doxen more this year and next. Our 180 acre lake is becoming a great fishery thanks to these and our other added structure. This is just what the doctor ordered.

works as advertised
Quick assembly and I used primer/glue for PVC. Made one with 1' pipe to make a 2.5' ball and two with 1.5' pipe to make 3.5' ball. Dropped them about 10 ft off the end of my pier in a 3 acre pond and then marked them with a duck decoy. Used a brick on one leg to keep stationary followed by a "T" on end of that pipe. Easy assembly. Likely will buy another set to drop beside these to expand habitat.

Held together with very weak glue. Didn’t hold up to submersion.
We used 24” long pipe and it was perfect for us. The sockets surrounding the glued together halves of the sphere were loose and required pvc cement to stay but held once glued. We used the hold on the sphere to tie a weight to it as in instructions show. However, once we began to lower the completed assembly into the water the spheres came unglued (factory assembly glue) and the structures broke in half. All of the pipe around the halves came out and now is just litter in our pond. A real shame. Seems nice but the sphere should be molded as one piece or welded together.

Durable. Easily supplanted by use of a plastic milk carton and ten minutes of planning.

Homeless Crappie
I have several maybe 12 or 15 or so hanging off of docks located around Lake of the Ozarks makes a great home for homeless crappie and other fish. Use sandpaper on the PVC to rough them up a little so the algae will adhere to the PVC easier. Crappie loves these! Easy to build let the PVC cement set a day or so before putting them in the water.
