San Andreas (Blu-ray)
All of my many Blue Ray reviews focus solely upon the actual quality of the film from Standard Def DVD quality to the higher standard set for Blu Ray. Summaries of the plot and opinions of the story line and acting can be found in the majority of the other reviews so I do not want to be redundant. My rating is based solely upon the Blue Ray disc's quality and not the quality of the movie itself.Keep in mind, however, that the quality of what you see and hear is also dependent upon the quality of the TV monitor you are watching on as well as the home theater set up you are using. The monitor I use is a fairly new Panasonic ZT 65" plasma and the amps, speakers, cables, BluRay player and Surround Processor I use are hi end esoteric gear to provide me with a more realistic and objective perspective. I am not trying to be a snob here, but just pointing out that what you see and hear is very dependent upon the quality of the gear you are using.VIDEO QUALITY....It is difficult to find a blue ray disc with color and resolution better than this one. Color and clarity are superb with wonderful attention to even the small visual details. This applies not only to the CGI but to the actual scenes with actors..their skin tones, hair, pores and numerous visuals are beautifully color graded with no exaggeration in any of the colors. There is a great visual depth in the watching and while I am not a 3D fan, I bet the 3D would be spectacular. Black levels go pretty deep without sacrificing details at all. The Mbps rate generally stays in the mid 30s. Nothing is lost in the viewing and I saw no artifacts or issues in any part of the film. Stair stepping in some of the wide angle shots could easily have been an issue and, yet, there was none.Codec: MPEG-4 AVCResolution: 1080pAspect ratio: 2.40:1Original aspect ratio: 2.39:1AUDIO QUALITY...The audio is very impressive. The Blue Ray defaulted to a Dolby True HD 7.1. If my processor was Dolby Atmos capable, and I am only guessing here, it would have defaulted to that. I can't wait to get my Atmos processor late this month. As it is, the 7.1 lossless audio creates a fully encompassing audio palate that completely immerses you in the action. And, there is a lot of action which pounds and demands the best your system can offer. Your LFE channel will have you rumbling in your seat. While I always have my subwoofer set lower so that I do not hear it as a separate speaker (this is the correct way to set a sub woofer, if you hear it as a directional separate speaker you have its volume set too high), the sub will be in use almost the entire film. What I especially liked about the audio for this Blue Ray is that there are so many dynamics to it. One minute the audio is furiously immersing you and the next, there is a quiet dialogue scene. It is the dynamics of the audio editing that really can pull you in. While I did say that the audio is fully immersive to the listener, I do not feel that discreet directionality is its main feature. All your speakers, whether it is a 5.1 or 7.1 system are in use but other than panning in-between sound stages I did not hear much discreet audio from any particular speaker. Maybe I will just have to give it a second listen. Never the less, the audio is demo worthy.EXTRAS....I found the extras to be very interesting. To be upfront, at the beginning of the disc are two advertisements about how great saving these movies to the cloud are and how you can go about streaming your films. These are just ads that take away from the allotted space for the film you are buying causing the need for even greater compression of the movie you just paid for. For me, these ads and previews should be banned.Good extras were several deleted scenes, all in finished mode. I do not think that their inclusion would necessarily make for an extended version. A gag reel also had its funny moments. A real look at the San Andreas fault line was interesting. I did not watch the extra on how they scored the film though the scoring during the films was excellent. And finally, their was the typical director's commentary which I did not listen to.All in all, while the film is mildly over the top, this Blu Ray is great to have in my collection.Hope this review helps andThanks for reading.

A movie of upcoming tragedy, devastation, & hope, that sadly--is NOT unrealistic!
Dwayne Johnson sure picked an excellent movie script to star in here! 😍 This is a movie of tragedy, devastation, & hope, that's unfortunately NOT too far-fetched! 😢 We have all been warned thousands of years ago by pure Scriptural-Prophesy from multiple Holy Books, to "...Watch the Weather as well as the 'Negative-Behaviors' of People in general. So that we will know when the end of the world as we know it, is about to happen"!Nowadays, with all the sharp increases in natural-disasters that have been occurring worldwide and throughout this country over the last seven years in particular, we have clearly bared-witness to these written Prophecies coming to pass. And those of us with the Gifts of Discernment & Prediction combined with a Close Relationship with God-Yah-Allah, we clearly understand what's going on today here and all over the world with the weather combined with people's sharply increased-levels of indecent & hateful behavior in particular. With that being said, I watched San Andreas with a VERY open-mind and a sad heart, because I THOROUGHLY understand "what's coming"--especially in the future of the U.S. And I'm not one who conveniently chooses to live in denial like an ostrich with its head in the sand....Trust me--with everything that's already happening (endless fires; excessive rainstorms, lightning, tornados, hurricanes, & floods; record-breaking heatwaves; etc, etc), it's NOT the least bit unrealistic that one day we can find ourselves encountering heavy tremors in the California San Andreas Fault Line that are horrible enough to be felt three-thousand (3,000) miles away in New York City--AND that triggers a few Tsunamis as a result! We have our predictions from our Forefathers & Ancestors as told to them by Our Holy Creator. And we need to take heed to this Knowledge that they left behind for us, to use as a Guide to prepare us for the approaching Fulfillment of even MORE Prophecies. Therefore, we all need to do a Self-Evaluation and make the proper changes in our behaviors and Life-Choices to improve our standards and our "Moral Compass" within ourselves and in how we treat each other in general.Believe me, we are NOT going to be able to continue being abusive & hateful towards one another for very long--especially over a person's Melanin-Levels in their skin and/or their desire to live a life of high moral aptitude (which is what we're SUPPOSED to be striving towards in the first place)! As long as we keep on ignoring these Commands to change our ways, punishments of increasing magnitude WILL continue to get worse, especially in the U.S.Dwayne Johnson and the rest of the Cast did a superb performance here. Sia sang the HELL outta California Dreamin', giving it a hauntingly beautiful & heart-aching rendition that only SHE could create for this type of apocalyptic-movie; the Special Effects (FX) Team blazed the visuals & made every disaster scene bounce-off the screen at us; and above all--the Writers made that storyline as hard-core Reality as it comes--complete with the sweetness of Bad-Karma as well (what goes around, definitely comes around in here)!I'm very happy to have purchased San Andreas for my collection. After watching it, I would've been totally upset if I'd only done a Rental on this.
