No more worries about power surges when charging multiple devices oversees
Prior to purchasing this power strip, I stupidly had been taking a cheap multi outlet power cord when traveling oversees. After a bad experience in Peru last fall, I decided it was time to eliminate power surges from things to worry about. Plus when I thought about it, I realized this was a pretty cheap investment when considering the replacement cost of all the electronics I lug around with me when traveling. And although Western Europe may be safe from surges, S America, Nepal and Eastern Europe can need protection. This strip is a little heavy, but for six outlets, and something as well made and universal as this one is, it's not bad. In fact, I'm used to it now and carry it with me on my carry on so I'm sure to have it, even in airports. It accepts any grounded (3 pin) or non grounded plug from the US, Europe and virtually anywhere else. All you need is a plug converter to fit the outlet for the country you are visiting (i.e. type C, D, G, etc) and you are set. This protects from any surge you are likely to encounter and also has a noise filter to filter electromagnetic and radio frequency interferences, which is a plus. The cord is about 5 1/2' long, which I've found long enough for any hotel room so far. This is not a voltage converter, so if your device accepts only 110V you will need a converter. But almost all devices have built in converters so usually not necessary. Check your input to make sure. Out of 8 things I lug around, including Kindle, iPod, camera battery charger, disk backups, etc, non need a converter.

Complete awesomeness
I haven't used all of the plug types yet (in fact, I've only used US plugs in it). I bought this because I often travel to conferences with international participants, who might have forgotten their adapters to make their plug fit into US sockets - this solves the problem quite easily, as the sockets are universal (they accept pretty much any country's plugs). This has also become my go-to power strip for normal uses too - it has a long enough cord to actually be useful! I hate power strips that only have 2-foot cords. The only drawback is that due to the ability to accept plugs from any country, the thing is HUGE. It barely fits in my backpack, and for flights, I prefer to throw it in my carry-on rather than my backpack just to ease the load. Also, the power cord is US - so it will only work in US sockets without one of the aforementioned adapters that people forget all the time! But it will accept 110-220 if you can feed it to it - unlike other power strips that blow up if you feed them 220It's important to note that this doesn't do any sort of voltage conversion - so whatever you plug in has to accept the voltage that's coming out of the socket that you have it plugged in to. If you use this to power a 110 appliance in a country that has 220, I think you'd be in for a big surprise (and not in a good way!).

Universal Power Strip - VCT USP600
This universal power strip is great for international travelers. Most countries, outside of the US and Canada, use 220V 50 Cycle current. This power strip can handle both the 100V current in North America and also the 220/250Volt current used in most other countries. Be aware that whatever current you put in is what comes out. So, if you are in a 220V country and plug in a 110V appliance, without using a converter, pffft! you will blow it out. You will still need a converter to use a 110V appliance with this power strip. That said, it will allow you to use a number of appliances or chargers at the same time from a single outlet. Just remember to take along a converter for your 110V appliances. Because this is also a surge protector, it will save your equipment from the power surges that are common in some foreign countries with questionable power grids. Also, remember to bring along plug adapters for the country that you are in. While the unit has universal plug outlets, that is, they will accept plugs from just about any country in the world, you may need an adapter to plug the unit into the wall outlet in the country you are in since it has the standard 3 prong plug used in the US and Canada.

Dangerous! Hot and Neutral Reversed
This is a sturdily built item, but I can't recommend it for safety reasons. The hot and neutral wires on all six outlets are reversed for a U.S. plug. Also, both vertical slots on all outlets are wide enough to accept the wide U.S. polarized plug prongs that are supposed to be connected to the neutral wire, so even if the wiring had been done right, U.S. polarized plugs could be inserted the wrong way.
