I want to purchase multiple sets to use on my patio stairs, but I only want to use 1 remote. Can I use 1 remote for multiple sets of lanterns?

These don't run off a remote control system. There is a switch on the bottom that is either "on" or "off". When switched into the "on" mode, it allows the battery to charge. As it begins to get darker, the solar panel senses no incoming current and automatically switches the light on. I always leave mine in the "on" position and they run every night, all night long. Very user friendly. If for some reason you don't want them lit, you would need to flip the switch on the bottom to the off position.

Do these only charge when switched to the "on" position? I don't want them on every night.

Yes, they must be On to charge. They stay on dusk to dawn. But the light is not very bright so it isn't annoying for it to stay on. If you want to manually turn it off each night and then turn On in the morning so it will charge, that is an option. There are others that have different operation where you can select On at dusk then automatically turn Off after say 4 or 6 hours. But a light with this type of operation may cost more.

Are the glass panels removable?

Solar Lanterns

These lanterns are reasonably bright for candle effect and the clear glass offers better exposure; however, the doors do not close tight (a gap at the closure) and I am concerned that rain will penetrate the units. Time will tell! It rained and a lot of water got into the body of the lanterns. Don't know the effect yet, but disappointed.12/17/2022 Not satisfied with these lanterns. Opening in door allows rain to enter fixture affecting light. They require emptying with every rain. I had other lanterns that were great, but decided to try these since there was no trim around panels which, I had hoped, would provide better light. I do not recommend these lanterns unless they will remain in well covered area.
