Q: I'm preparing a starter set. Is it worth 22$? or should I get something really cheap?

It's worth $22.00, the price has gone down. A $4.00 3" wide bowel from Target will work also. I got the mugs because they matched the brushes.

Q: Is the base dotted for quick lathering?

Nope, smooth. But I have no problem getting a quick lather

Q: Does this mug have any ridges on the bottom to help facilitate in creating lather?

It does not have ridges. I use soap discs or pucks with this mug. Ridges are pointless with soap pucks because they would cover the ridges on the bottom of the mug anyway. When I use Proraso from a tube, I use A Georgetown shaving scuttle which does have ridges.

Q: Is this mug microwave safe

Being its stoneware a type of ceramic material. I would think so. I like it it holds heat well.
