There's no doubt this does work but it made my teeth hurt so I'm having to do it in stages. They aren't so much sore afterwards although my gums were a little tender, but while I was using it, a couple of my outer teeth throbbed and it was a very uncomfortable feeling. I would almost bet if you use it and have cavities, you would probably be screaming in pain! I am talking about the outer teeth where there was no cavity when I say it hurt mine. You have to soak the plastic pieces in hot water to kind of mold them easier or else they won't fit quite right and I cut mine off some after the first time around so the one tooth wouldn't throb and it's not like it's ever seen anyway. It sure is cheaper to go this method than to go to a dentist (who probably uses the same stuff anyway). Wearing the pieces on your teeth is really the worse part because with this particular one you have to wear them for 30 minutes (because it's the 35% strength). Different %'s require different times. I had rather wear them for 30 minutes though then some with lesser strength that requires you to wear them for hours and one kind was for all night. I mean, there is no way I could sleep in them and wouldn't you choke anyway! Also you aren't supposed to swallow any of it. Due to that fact, if you have a heart murmur, you might want to check with your doctor before using. I have one sometimes and when I used to go to the dentist, I usually had to take antibiotics before a teeth cleaning. After years of doing that, they have now decided to not recommend it for some reason, but you still might ought to ask your dentist just in case.

This kit is the Holy Grail of whitening products. If I use all of the tubes in this kit you will be able to see my teeth from the moon. I was a heavy smoker/coffee & tea drinker. I kicked the smoking habit and wanted to get rid of the yellow teeth too. I ended up giving two of the tubes to my dad because my teeth were already white enough! I've got the "Hollywood Smile" I never thought was possible!This is so much cheaper than my dentist's office, and it's the exact same thing they sell. Last time I was there they had single trays of this stuff and were selling it for $10 per tray. I don't know how many applications are in this kit but it's going to last me forever and I doubt I will ever have to re-buy it. It has a seriously long expiration date.The first and second times I used it I experienced some discomfort and discoloration on my gums. After that I got smart and just put a tiny bit of gel in each tooth indentation of the mouth guard. Then I slept overnight in it. This worked wonderfully and it didn't bother my gums. I was really glad they sent three mouth guards since I immediately messed the first one up as I learned how to mold it. It's an excellent kit and the only thing I need to get my teeth as white as I want to. Regardless of what the directions say; make sure you brush your teeth a couple of hours before applying this. I didn't and the first few applications I had spots, streaks and uneven whitening. Brushing before using it fixed that. I'm not sure if it's in the product description anywhere, but it does need to be refrigerated, I keep the whole kit in my vegetable crisper.

Didn't come with instructions so they sat in a drawer for 15 months. Finally I started reading the Q & A and learned how to use them and so far working well. The trick is to put the trays in near boiling water until you see them changing shape, then put them in your mouth and suck on your teeth. They mold to your teeth wonderfully. Then I put a little bit of Vaseline on my gums to protect them, put very little gel near the bottom front of the tray and wore them for 2 hours. On your first try maybe wear them for only 30 minutes because you be more sensitive than I. My teeth have a long way to go but I saw a difference in just 3 uses. Only gave 4 stars because didn't come with instructions.

I use this gel with the trays my dentist made so I don't know how well the trays work. I tried putting the gel on the trays and inserting into my mouth. That wasn't the best idea as I guess I put too much on. It squished out and I had to wipe up the excess off my gums. This percentage burns if you get it on your gums. The next time I wiped my teeth dry and applied just a dot to each tooth with a qtip before I put the trays in my mouth. I press on each tooth to spread the gel. I now only apply with a qtip. The 15% and 20% varieties I bought for a lot more from my dentist had to stay on for about an hour. With this concentration I leave the trays in for about 10-15 minutes, as an hour left my teeth achey. I rinse my mouth and trays immediately with water when finished. The gel really works well and brightens up coffee/tea stained teeth. When I notice my teeth need brightening I apply every other day for a couple weeks. All the times and duration will vary for each person depending on the tooth color desired and sensitivity.

I have used opalescence whiter for years, maybe twice a year after I have my teeth cleaned at the dentist. I am amused the strength keeps going up on the bleacher, the first one I ever got was about 20 percent, then 25 percent now it's up to 35. What would help greatly is directions on the mouth guard. NOBODY'S teeth, bite etc. are the same, so these HUGE teeth trays are enormous for someone with a small mouth. There is a way to make them personalized, just to your size, but there is nothing whatsoever other than put the trays in your mouth. I found directions for these plastic rubber trays from years ago -- so glad I save stuff -- and what you can do to make them fitted is soak them for five sections in water you just boiled (or got hot enough in the microwave). Don't let them overly soak or you can't work with them. You need them to be pliable, so you can put the softened rubber tray in your mouth over your teeth, hold for a minute -- don't bite hard -- then take them out and cool which is fast. There! Your trays are made just for you. So much more comfortable and you don't waste your whitener. The rubber is very, very hard and uncomfortable unless they are more fitted. I hope this helps.
