Great piano for the price
First off: YES IT IS TOUCH SENSITIVE. Meaning: when you hit a key hard, you get a loud sound - when you hit it soft, you get a quiet sound. The keys, however, are NOT weighted: they feel springy - more like an organ than a piano. The sounds are great, particularly for the price, with a large variety, ranging from organic (acoustic) to synthetic, and a broad spectrum in between. Plus built-in drums and some other cool stuff.I got this for my kids, who have been playing a regular acoustic piano for 3 years each. Not wanting to be without a piano during a long vacation, I got it just to have it on the road, because it's light, and you can even take it on a plane as carry-on (at least on JetBlue). Now that we're home again, the kids still enjoy the Yamaha.Bottom line: for $150, you cant do better, and you can probably do a lot worse. I wish the action were more piano-like, but, again, its $150, not $450. We're all very happy with this instrument.

The keyboard is a great keyboard. It has some advanced features that you will not find on a low range price keyboard for a workstation keyboard. It has over 700 voices 200 or more Styles, and 30 songs. It also has a DJ pattern that you can make or create your own style of dub step music or something like that. It has five sections for each of the 25 DJ styles. it has an arpeggio function. It also has a recording function. You can even hook the keyboard into a computer using the USB type B port on the back of the keyboard and the USB type A port on your computer to use as a digital audio workstation, (DAW). Note, that you will need the Yamaha driver specific to that keyboard with your selected version of windows to take advantage of the MIDI capabilities for your music programs. You can also connect the keyboard to an Apple device and use some apps that work with Yamaha keyboards as a virtual controller. Not to mention, it has life control knobs so you can control the sound in real time without going into the menu system to adjust your sound, However, the option is still available if you want to adjust your sound at the finest level. The only thing, in my opinion, that I think it should have, is a modulation wheel. This will make it very easy to make the sound a lot more robust. If you know how to use it. Let me not forget that it also has Yamaha's education sweet parentheses Y. E. S), this will let the person who is trying to play piano learn how to use the correct chord fingering to play a certain song. Overall, it is a good keyboard. Highly recommend it for those people who just like to have entertainment and use it for basic studio work and just for their enjoyment.

It is actually the best unit they make for home use
I just picked up this unit a few days ago and have been experimenting with it. I also contacted Yamaha to ask them their take on it. It is actually the best unit they make for home use, and actually it has hookups for stage use as well. It is very very beautiful, has great graphics like the screen that is actually blue instead of yellow, which is good for me, because I prefer blue to the yellow. It has 76 keys and many more sounds than the standard 61 key units that Yamaha makes. It also has many more synthesizer type sounds than their 64 key unit. You may want to get this one with some kind of stand. It is very long, although it is not really heavy. These units just sit on most stands so you can easily just take it off and put it in your lap. Everything seems to work perfectly, and like I said, it is stunningly beautiful and definitely worth the money. Yamaha makes excellent keyboards and this is one of them. Perfect for beginners like myself.

Great beginner keyboard
Just received this keyboard a few days ago so I haven't even scratched the full capabilities of this unit but my initial reaction was very good. The sound quality is wonderful and touch on the keyboard is very accurate. I am a beginner and considered getting a used one to start but I am glad I spent the extra money on this. The built in lessons, the graphic display shows me what I am playing and should help me associate the notes played with the written music much faster. Not sure if I'll ever use all the voices and special styles on this unit but regardless of your tastes and plans for a keyboard in this price range it should not leave you wanting anything more. It's also very light for a keyboard of this size. Any unit with 61 keys has to be at least as big but I was surprised at how light weight it is. Very easy to move around and put away if you don't have a permanent spot to leave it out.

An excellent entry level digital keyboard.
I wanted an affordable portable keyboard that would introduce me to all the possibilities of an electronic/digital instrument while at the same time allow me to learn and make music that was satisfactory to my ear. This keyboard has succeeded on all my expectations. I really don't think I could find another keyboard in the same "class" that was any better than this one. I will some day in the future upgrade to a 256 polyphony digital keyboard, but in the meantime this one is perfect. After owning and playing acoustic pianos, it is pure joy to know that I will never have to pay someone to "tune" this keyboard. The promotional materials position this keyboard not only as "entry-level" but also targeted for the "beginner." I am not "entry-level" and certainly not a beginner. But I also didn't want to make a huge investment in a keyboard without knowing all the ins-and-outs of these instruments. I play this keyboard every day and I am totally happy with it.
