Great question. This seatpad has silicone printing on both sides (under and over). The other colors only have the silicone printing on the bottom side (under).

Q: How well does it really prevent slipping?

It does a decent job. I havent slipped into the boat yet, when using mine. Grips any surface well.

Q: Is cushion waterproof ?

I would prefer to call it water repellant. You are using it in a boat where water can go, via paddle splashing, water bottle spillage and even the occasional capsize drill. Let it dry out in the sun or open area, not the cramped, dark corner of your trunk or go bag.
