They should be safe for this purpose. The ones I received were made of polypropylene (PP) (recycle code 5). Soap making uses lye which is sodium hydroxide (NaOH). PP is rated for use with NaOH as "A-Excellent". That means they should hold up when used with lye as part of the soap making process, especially a cold process where not much heat is involved.
