Less Oil Burning. GTX Full Syn 5W-30. Why $38?
I have an “oil burner. ” 2011 Terrain with 2.4 Ecotech. 123K miles Have tried a bunch of oils from V, P, M1, AC Delco, and even Castrol Edge. Edge was better till I tried the high mileage. Back Down to 600-800 miles/qt. Even going back to standard Edge I was still at 800 miles/qt. On this change with GTX I’m 1200/qt. GTX is supposed to clean up sludge on short trip use. I have lots of brown sludge. Seems to be doing it. Oil is getting much dirtier, indicating it’s working. Planned to change several times at earlier intervals to try to clean up. Paid $24/5qt on Amazon Nov ‘23. Now is $38!!! Why!? Especially since GTX 5W-20 is still $24! And you can buy 3-5qt 5W-30s for $78!!!! For $38 I can try Royal Purple! What’s up Amazon? Even Castrol Edge is way cheaperUpdate……Glad the Amazon price has come back down!Did a change in Sept and the oil looked darker right out of the jug. Did a change today (Nov 18) and noticed the same thing, but with black streaks in the oil. I had shook the jug some (Project Farm always suggests shaking the container) Shook some more . Streaks went away but still very dark. Other changes with GTX and it’s looked amber color. Haven’t noticed any difference running or with consumption. Change in formula ???Anyone else notice?
