Grandson Gift
We got our 7 year old grandson an ant farm. This was so fun to build and watch the ants to go work. Great quality! This set is expandable also

Mostly good, two bad connections.
So most of it is good. I set it up watching the video last night and added 2 tubes of ants after checking the tubes I put in a few times. At that time I did notice that all the caps on the boxy feeder area was fairly loose so I added a piece of heavy packing tape over to make sure they did not come out. This morning my daughter went to look at it and came back screaming because she got bit/stung several times because half the ants got out because 2 of the tubes that were in place and not modifiable (but normal means) had a significant gap from which they were escaping.Ultimately, I sealed it up with a hot glue gun but half the ants are gone and daughter has several bites/stings that could have been avoided with better inspection.

Pretty cool
Ants escaped when the tubes disconnected during the first two nights. I bought a hot glue gun and made sure all the connections were good. Now it’s cool and no more escapees biting me when I go to the kitchen.

No quality control, ants WILL get out
We ordered this as part of a trio (green/blue/sand). It arrived in two packages, the green/blue gel in one and the sand separately.). The sand one arrive crushed with sand spilling everywhere. The Blue one arrived missing the plastic plugs that are used to connect one unit to another with the provided tubing. The green one’s top came without the plug in the top piece which is unique to that part. We were able to salvage the top from the crushed sand unit and since we were connecting the units the missing plug wasn’t a concern. We ordered our ants and upon receipt of a replacement sand unit managed to get all three units connected. We added the ants, and for the first 12 hours everything was good. Then we began noticing that some of the ants appeared to be UNDER the enclosure. It turns out that the vertical tubes that lead through the sand/gel in the green and sand units were terminated at the bottom so the ants would divert into the feeding boxes. There was no such termination in the blue one so the ants could go down and were then effectively loose from the entire enclosure. We managed to get the ants back into the enclosure and with some hot glue and a dime we closed off the blue verticals tube at the bottom. We made sure the tubes for the green and sand units were securely blocked and thought we were in good shape. That last about an hour until we heard screaming that the ants were “everywhere” and discovered that each of the food boxes inexplicably also had holes at the bottom that were not plugged! We have now taped the entire bottom of theses things and placed it on a thin sheet of MDF with hot glue around the entire perimeter. We cannot return them with ants in them and there is no effective way of removing the ants to another enclosure. They live on our porch now, at least until we are sure they cannot escape.Under no circumstance should anyone buy these. They are poorly designed, easily escaped, and there is no quality control at all.

Read the dimensions
This is a cute habitat and will make a good gift however it’s very small. The pictures make it look bigger than it truly is however when it arrived I was disappointed to find it was very small. Make sure u read the details because the pictures while accurate on the shape and look are not what they seem size wise.

Handling
Ant farm is cute, but parts come apart easily so you have to be really careful touching and moving it. My son's lower level lid came off and they were starting to come out.
