Alan Banks/Peter Robinson at their best
I’ve read all of Peter Robinson’s work-Alan Banks series, other novels, and short stories-and “Not Dark Yet” is one of my favorites. The plot moves along in an understandable fashion. The characters are well developed-so you can see them in your mind’s eye. It kept my interest so I read it in a couple days. Only “In A Dry Season” compares with “Not Dark Yet” as far as I’m concerned-both extremely good novels in the Alan Banks series. Love the Yorkshire,UK setting. Enjoyed learning something about Moldova, Albania, and Paris. If you like the Alan Banks series or English murder mysteries, you’ll enjoy this.

The 27th DCI Alan Banks Novel
DCI Alan Banks isn't sure that Zelda is telling him the truth. She is the partner of one of his team's father, Ray Cabbot, an artist. Zelda had been kidnapped as an eighteen-year-old overseas and forced into sex slavery. She had eventually managed to escape and came to England. She has been helping the government identify those involved in the human trafficking business and in that process, managed to identify the man who tried to burn Banks alive a decade ago. But Banks isn't sure she is telling him everything.Meanwhile, the team is working a double murder. A rich property developer and his manservant were found brutally killed. He was known for his elaborate, risque parties with wealthy and celebrity guests, parties rife with drugs and available women. He had also recently formed ties with some Albanian crime lords so they could be the culprits. But when the house was searched, a trove of recorded encounters were found and one encounter seems to be a rape rather than an agreed upon tryst. Could that woman have come back for revenge? As the cases are worked, both Zelda and Banks are kidnapped and barely escape with their lives. Will this escalation break the cases wide open? This is the twenty-seventh Alan Banks mystery. There is only one more which I'm starting now. I'll miss the team and Robinson's intricate yet revealing prose that solves the cases. This book is recommended for mystery fans.

NOT DARK YET by PETER ROBINSON
'NOT DARK YET' by PETER ROBINSON. I've read all of the Alan Banks novels because thNOTey are so well written. The main characters are fully developed and unforgettable. I have grieved in the past when a character I feel I know from an Author I read as soon as their newest offering is published, dies. I lose a friend. This, 'Not Dark Yet,' is once again so very worth reading. I lived it from front to back. Thank you Peter Robinson for Alan Banks and the other characters that make up his world.

Gripping
I had read some of Robinson’s early DCI Banksbooks but none of his more recent ones. This one was excellent, with a complex plot and engaging, multi-dimensional characters. I’ll look forward to book 28.

The Master Disappoints with This One
I have read every book this wonderful author has written with alacrity. This one continues the strong plot and the well drawn characters. To my eye, though, it needs serious editing. There are too many run on passages pages in length that add nothing but distraction. It made me wonder if suddenly he is being paid by the word! There are far too many. Another thought is that maybe he had an understudy do much of the writing. In any case, editor, you can do better.

Enjoy it but a bit sad
It is definitely a better one in this series. I followed Alan from very early on through his up and down over years. Now, friends & family around him have drifted away one way or the other. It is a bit sad to see him in a ever lonely life. Cannot help to puzzle what is next for him.

Complicated
This is a complicated mystery with many twists and turns. I'm glad I read it but it's not something I'd read again. It's disturbing in its intensity.
